I agree. So much.
I wouldn't have saved Dumbledore, James, or Lily.
Harry has gotten used to living without his parents and Dumbledore seemed like a Jerk.

Ok, Maybe Snape and Lupin and Fred. Those are my other picks.
I would save Sirius, Dobby, and Lupin.

Agreed!! :)"
If they had not died, there would be no story.

I still firmly believe that Percy should've died instead of Fred, as his last redemption. Sirius should have lived, and someone else closer to Harry die. Bellatrix is a surprising character that actually was incredibly fascinating, but her death was epic and befitting to her dynamic character. I believe that death for Remus was peace at last, but Tonks should have lived in order to be there for Teddy, even if she was emotionally crippled by her husband's death.

Remus
Fred
Dobby
Snape
I can't pick 3. These 5 should have survived. They shouldn't be dead. I bawled so hard with Fred. Not 2 chapters later Snape and then directly after it when I was still bawling Remus and Tonks. And with Dobby I don't think my book was happy with me I threw it through my room. I've never cried so much reading a book. And Sirius... book5 was the first one I actually cried over in my life. after that many followed though xD

Exactly. And for those who say Fred's death was needless, well, if you've got 7 kids from the same family fighting (although now I'm not sure if they were all there), it's a little implausible for not a single one to be killed, don't you think? We must have some semblance of realism, even in a magical world :)

True, she could've killed off Percy, and it've had the 'oh no, but he'd just seen the light' angle :)

I agree! I think everyone died for a reason, and there's a chance we wouldn't appreciate some of the characters that died as much if they were still alive.

What do you think about Dobby?"
Dobby is a favorite, but I tried to think of people that would make a huge difference for the survivors. Fred's death devastated Georg..."

I loved Snape since the very first book. I used to reread all his scenes with Harry because I loved the witty dialogue between the two of them. I would love for Rowling to do a prequel with Snape as the main character, telling his time at Hogwarts and his unrequited love for Lily.

:("
He was 16 actually. He was in his 1st year in the "Chamber of Secrets". But I can relate, I do remember his death. And Denis' death too. Both hyper sad.

Tonks died for a reason, so Harry could be the father to Teddy that he never had

1. Diggory because he HAD nothing to do with it, he died without trying and it was saddest thing
2. Sirius because he deserved a life where he could live in freedom without a defamed
3.Fred because....well you know....

Tonks died for a reason, so Harry could be the father to Teddy that he never had"
Harry was too young to be a father and he could never take the place of Teddy's mum aka Tonks.

So I would save just him.
Falling though the veil was a cheat, and unlike the movie it wasn't preceded by the killing curse.
I felt, and still feel, like it's unclear what really happened to him.
Have him still fall though so it wouldn't alter the story, but bring him back. Harry who had lost so much deserved one person just for him.

Dobby and Hedwig because they were so innocent and did so much good and so little bad - if anyone deserved to live, they did.
Sirius was the only family Harry had, really. It seemed so cruel to rip him away from Harry after he has lost SO much and endured so much pain :(
