New version Of Obsidian Pebble

Hi,

I am the author and we have a new edition of this book from a new publisher due out on OCT 29th Ideally I'd like the new cover on display and its metadata. Do you want me to provide a copy of the cover?

It wasn't attached to your author profile because the author names didn't match. (Your name is currently in a nonstandard format -- you should probably change it to "Rhys A. Jones" to avoid problems with mismatched books.)

You should be able to upload the cover yourself now that the record is on your profile, but if you'd rather we can upload it if you provide a link.

Actually, all the bookcovers show R.A. Jones, so I made the author profile match. However, R.A. Jones is a very popular name, so it's actually R.A.-4space-Jones.

Rhys, the extra spaces between your first and last names only shows up on book edit pages and your profile edit page, but they tells the system which books are yours. When adding a book manually, be sure to include the extra spaces, and the book will go where it belongs. If you forget, post a new thread in this group and any librarian can fix it for you.

Ok, this is a bit of an issue. The RA Jones thing was a problem, as you quite rightly say--there were lots and so we changed everythign to Rhys A. Jones. There are new covers for both The Dreables and The Curse of Borage-Doone with Rhys A Jones as author. Now I can't change the covers for these, so if you coudl remove them, I will upload the new ones. Unfortunately, the covers for the old Obsidian Pebble have RA Jones--but they don't exist anymore--we have a new cover which has been uploaded. That's how they appear on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Curse-Borage-...)

So, what we now need to do is change my profile name back again to Rhys A. Jones, please both on the author page and the membership (I know that Goodreads like full stops, but these don't appear on the book covers--but I don't think that is an issue). This will match the covers--except for the old Obsidian Pebble cover. Hope that this is alright.

I've now added the corrected cover images of Dreables and Curse of Borage-Doone to my ptofile photos and I'd be grateful if someone could change them over from there.

GR policy is to list books under the name they where published i.e. R.A. Jones using full stops between initials.

When books are republished with a different name then it is GR policy to keep the original name in the primary author position with the new name applied as a secondary name to the appropriate books. It is possible to claim the secondary author profile if you so wish using a different email.

The only people who can ignore the policy is GR staff which include rivka.

We do not remove old covers but create alternate cover editions

Edit: This is a book cataloging site in the same way of a library who would not change the library catalog records of books that exist just because there is a new cover since the book they have is the one with the old cover

Certainly not my intention to upset the apple cart. All done in the interest of clarity. So, I have written in a different thread for help with new editions. Once I have the secondary author profile up and running, all will be hunky-dory.
