John nodded and sighed closing his eyes muttering names of people.
She let him be and walked over to the bar. She started on her warm-ups. Mel rolled her ankles and then started to do back-flaps in tempo.
"And that's the first wave." He muttered his eyes closed still.
She stopped and turned to look at him, her flimsy skirt covering the leotard swishing in the air. "Everything okay?" She asked.
"Fine." He said taking a breath, "Just fine."
She walked over to him with a concerned look, "you can talk to me."
"I'm fine just go back to your dance." He said rubbing his eyes.
She walked behind him and massaged his shoulders. Mel leaned into his face from behind, "talk to me."
"You wouldn't understand." He said looking at her with a sigh.
She pulled back with a shocked expression, "are you kidding me?" Mel sat down in front him pulling her pink dance skirt down. "Try me," she gave him an encouraging smile.
"No I mean you literally wouldn't understand it's in another language." John said.
Melania let out a small chuckle, "then tell me what is wrong."
"That is near impossible." John said sighing.
"Fine," Melania said standing up and walking over to the bar. "I you cant talk to you soul-bound love than who can you talk to..." She dramatically added.
Melania rolled her eyes and took a deep breath.
John watched her but went back to his muttering.
Melania continued her warm-up shuffle steps while thinking about what he said. It bothered her John would not tell her what was wrong.
"She's safe." John said smiling a bit.
Melania turned to him, "Jackal, you know it bugs me when people don't tell me things. Who is safe?"
"What brought that up?" Mel asked curious.
"Naming people I killed or hurt." He said bluntly.
She nodded not saying anything seeing the hurt in his eyes.
John sighed again and closed his eyes.
Melania stunted a pirouette before landing with a strong pose of confidence, smiling. Her face of pride went to an expression of melancholy.
"sorry I'll just leave now." He said standing up.
"No," she reached for him, "I just faced reality. I will never dance and sing on broadway."
"Unless her potion works." John said.
She stood up, "thats true." Mel ran over and gave him a hug. "I just get so scared sometimes." She said into his neck.
"Death is a natural course of life it happens when it happens." John said.
She pulled away, "thanks." Melania looked down, "Why have you been so unhappy lately?" Mel bit her lip, "is it me?"
"I've faced death many times before but then I've always had a choice now I have none." John said.
"You took the potion." She said her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"I doubt it'll work." He said.
"Why?" She asked. "Becca is really good."
"Yes but to reverse something this big well it can't be done." He said.
"So, you are saying we will die?" Mel asked feeling a rush of achenes. She gripped the side of her stomach in pain.
"Are you alright." John asked rushing to her.
"Fine," she said gripping her side tighter.

Becca walked in, her cream colored dress, flowing behind her with every movement she took. A dimly lot ballroom came into view with house elves in one corner with classical instruments in their arms, already playing soft music. Becca played with her single pearled necklace and thought of roses while she waited for Jake.
