Kaitlyn Oruska (kaitlynoruska) | 23 comments Hi,

About a week ago, I requested librarian status in order to add characters and settings to my own books. I didn't hear back either way, and I tried to re-apply, and it wouldn't let me. Is there anything I should try to do?

Thanks!

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments You only get notified when accepted. They may not need more librarians at this time or only for specific purposes; but, that doesn't mean you won't get goodreads librarian status.

If by "own books" you mean books you have written, you do have most librarian capabilities for those (notably missing is the ability to overwrite existing bookcovers because against goodreads policies). I don't remember if you that means you should be able to add characters and settings yourself. If it's not letting you under book's "edit details" or if you wanted to add to books you did not write, you can always post in this group the characters/settings you want to be added and a librarian will be happy to help.

Kaitlyn Oruska (kaitlynoruska) | 23 comments Thank you for answering so quickly.

It won't let me add the characters and settings for the books I've written. Could that be because it's only one book? It's important for me to be able to add that information because the book is the first of a trilogy, and there may be a spinoff later on with another character.

Sadie (sadiesays) | 2 comments It's been over 2 weeks for me and I'm looking for status for the same reasons - Do we have to request it again and hope they'll have room or do they track people?
THANKS

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments From what I hear, librarian status is usually not given anymore to authors who are only interested in editing records for their own books. Most new librarians are looking to work on the general catalog. The Goodreads Author program is available for maintenance of a single author. (Disclaimer: I am not an employee here. I have no part of making the acceptance decisions for new librarians.)

Sadie (sadiesays) | 2 comments Actually - I was looking more to help author friends and keeping things up to date, not myself.
