Ellen Jarvis Though Where I'm Calling From wasn't the most entertaining book I've ever read, it was fairly satisfying. Carver is a talented writer, and he did a wonderful job not only writing the short stories, but also included many "secret meanings", or little pieces that made you dig deeper into the reading to understand. It kept me on my toes. Some of the short stories were more enjoyable than others, but overall they seemed to follow the same theme of drugs, unhappy marriages, or death (with the exception of a couple stories). I plan on going back and rereading through some of them, just because I know I missed a few things and I want to understand better.

Ashley I agree with Carver being a talented writer. He really had a lot of hidden meanings in his story that made me want to keep reading. I also found myself getting weird feelings in my stomach as if I was apart of some of the situations in the stories.

Lindseykeough I also agree that Carver is a very good writer, and very talented. He includes a lot of different meanings and in the last story ties it all together. I did have to re-read some parts I missed as well, but it kept me really entertained and wanting to read more.
