Chris This book is a great idea for those who want to help get more lost pets back home. Volunteer pet detectives are needed in every community. "Nose work" is an activity you can teach dogs to help them use their brains and burn off some energy, so it can also be a good thing for your dogs as well. Finding lost pets is also a good way for tracking dogs and their handlers to keep their skills sharp.

Getting more lost pets back home reduces the number that end up in pounds, so it saves lives and frees up room in animal rescue groups for pets who are truly homeless.

If you know anyone who has lost or found a pet, have them check out the expert pet recovery info on Kat's non-profit site, Missing Pet Partnership and related blog, http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/
