"He's called me Mike!" Mason almost laughs.
"He would also turn us into crazy dolphins for eating the strawberries too." He says, not doing a thing about the fact that they could get caught.

"Probably. I think the only people he doesn't get mixed up are his children."

"He probably doesn't even get those right." Mason jokes. He looks at his watch.
"Schist, I have to go. I'm going to be late otherwise." He stands up.
"See you at dinner?"

Devon ran a hand through his hair, stepping through the strawberry fields. He was still trying to understand how this camp worked. It wasn't every day you found out you were a demi-god, and Devon hadn't ever thought of himself as special. Yet, here he was. Devon dropped his hand to his side and tilted his head up towards the sky. Devon was half hoping to be claimed all the sudden, and half in denial still. He wasn't paying attention to his surroundings, instead being caught up in thought.

Wendy walked around the Strawberry field, bored. She didn't have anything to do in her cabin so she had decided to go for a walk around the camp. She stopped in mid-step when she saw someone standing in the middle of the field. She squinted, trying to see him clearer; she should have bought her glasses with her. She walked closer to the camper, he didn't look very familiar. "New?" she guessed.

Devon didn't jump, but her voice did surprise him. He turned to face her, and nodded at her question. "I'm Devon." He mentioned, looking at her, and trying to figure out who she was. A goody-goody? Or just curious? He dug the toe of his sneaker into the ground, watching her walk closer. Devon tilted his head slightly, wondering if she would stick around and ask another question or if she had been here for some other reason, and he was just in the way.

Her lips curve up in a small smile, "I'm Wendy Tsang" she introduced herself, "Daughter of Aphrodite. Have you've been claimed yet?" She had to tilt her head up to get a good look of his face, she was pretty short.

Devon smiled back, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Aphrodite's love, right?" He asked cautiously, wondering if demi-gods could use their powers on each-other. He looked down at her necklace and kicked at the dirt some more. She'd been here for a long time. Probably she could answer all of his questions--but Devon didn't know what else to ask. Instead, Devon answered her question. "Not yet, but I've heard that's normal."

She nodded, "And beauty, too" she added, "Yeah it pretty much is. My mom didn't claim my till me third year here. But do you have any ideas of who your godly parent might be?" she asks while watching his shoe continuously kick the dirt. "Your shoe is gonna get dirty if you keep doing that" she scolded.

Devon nodded, glancing at Wendy's necklace again. There were more than three charms on it, of course, but then, people were claimed seemingly randomly. "I um," Devon half shrugged, trying to not sound lame. "I dunno my ancient history enough to know the different Gods and my similarities to one of them." He looked down at his shoe, and stopped. He didn't really mind about it getting dirty, but it figured that the beauty girl would. Wendy, Devon silently corrected himself.

"Ah.." she muttered, glad that he had stopped kicking the dirt.
"Who do you hope to be a child of?" She remember when she first came into camp, she hope her Mother was Persephone or something since she adores flowers. But turns out her Mother was actually Aphrodite. She was kind of disappointed, she really wanted to be able to grow flowers right on the spot.

"Uhh--" Devon shrugged again. "Apollo maybe? Music is fun." Not to mention Devon's mind had gone blank on anyone else. He didn't really think Apollo was his family, since Devon could barely keep a beat, but he didn't want to say 'I don't know' again. "I'm pretty sure it's on my dad's side." Devon mentioned, running a hand through his hair. "Does what we want make a difference?" He asked, since she would know more than him.

She shakes her head, "Not really. I wanted to be a daughter of Persephone, but that didn't happen" she says, her smiling growing slightly. "Do you have anything you want to know? You must have some.."

"With the flowers?" Devon questioned. He could kind of see that. Wendy was fairly girly, although Aphrodite was pretty much the same. "What's the best way to get claimed?" Devon asked. He wasn't particularly adventurous, but it had to be better to try finding answers than staying ignorant. Since she'd been here so long Devon didn't doubt she could at least offer some ideas, even if they didn't work.

"Umm..." she had to think about that one, "I guess to get the gods, or goddesses, to notice you. Some of them could be quite forgetful and forget to claim their children." she says thinking to all the half-bloods here who still didn't know who their godly parent is.

Devon nodded thoughtfully, hesitated, then asked, "What did you do? I mean, how did you get Aphrodite's attention?" He was half curious about her personal story, and half trying to understand what she meant. He resisted the urge to go back to fiddling with the dirt--just barely though.

She let out a small laugh, "I kind of didn't" she murmured sheepishly. "I usually spend hours each day in the gardens by the flowers to get Persephone's attention. And during mealtimes, I would often offer her a lot my food."

Devon raised an eyebrow at Wendy. "You didn't?" He repeated, questioningly. He ignored the part about the food, since sacrifices were apparently normal here. Just one of the things he'd have to get used to, right? Devon figured that he could try that later, if he felt like it. "So, what? Aphrodite got jealous?"

She brought her shoulders up in a shrug, "I don't know. Probably."
"I just remember that while training, a glowing sign appeared above me. At first I thought it was a flower, from you know, Persephone, but it turns out to be a dove. I was stuck with Aphrodite's blessing for days.." she says laughing softly as she recalled the events.

"Huh." Devon ran a hand through his hair, thinking. "Doves are okay, but I dunno. Seems like going around being blessed would be awkward." He wasn't exactly asking her for more details, but if she offered them up, he'd be happy.

Wendy let out a laugh, "I think only Aphrodite does the blessing" she answers. "You know, to make the camper more pretty so it would attract attention from the opposite gender" She made a face at that, "But yeah, it was pretty awkward walking around with people staring at you."

Devon smiled slightly, watching Wendy laugh. "Are you sure they were just staring because of the blessing?" He asked, teasing her a tiny bit, but also genuinely having no idea how that sort of thing worked.

"I don't know..." she says fiddling with her milk tea colored hair. "They could be staring at me because I was new.." she thought out loud. She paused for a second before shrugging, "Why else would they stare at me if it wasn't for the blessing?" she asks, "I'm not that pretty compared to the other Aphrodite campers"

Devon chewed on his lower lip, glancing away. "Just wondering." He mumbled, face slightly flushed all the sudden. He looked back at her and shrugged in response to her shrug. "Uhmmm," Devon couldn't think of a way to change the subject, but he didn't really have anything else to say about the current topic.

Wendy decided to break the silence before it became awkward, "Urm. Have you explored the camp yet?" she asked. She always enjoyed giving tours around camp for new campers; except for Hermes' campers. All they think about is pranking.

Devon looked grateful for her intervening. "Some of it. Nothing too exciting though. Why--should I be looking for secret paths?" He asked, jokingly, then realizing at this camp there might actually be secret places. Devon shivered a tiny bit at the realization. "Where's your favorite hang-out?" He added another question quickly

She opened her mouth to answer his first question, when he threw another one at her.
"Uh.." she hesitated for a moment, "Definitely not the arena that's for sure" she said slowly. "I guess by the creek" she answered.

Devon nodded, and without realizing it started digging the toe of his left shoe into the ground. He wasn't twitchy exactly, Devon had just always felt more comftorable not staying still. "The creek by the border?" He questioned. There was just so much he didn't know yet, and Wendy didn't seem to be bored by his inquiries yet.

She stared at his feet as it dug into the soil, "Stop that" she murmured while frowning.

"We have a forest?" Devon rose an eyebrow wondering if she was messing with him. Some kind of hazing? Naw, Wendy seemed too...She just didn't seem like the kind of person who would do that kind of thing. He pouted slightly, realizing almost immediately what she was talking about. Sighing Devon looked down at his feet willing them to be still

She nodded, "We could go there if you want" she suggested. "It might be a bit messy since Capture the Flag was just hosted there yesterday, and the day before, and Mr. D didn't bother to have someone clean it."
