The dragon flopped down on the ground and Ronan glanced at Alia, and then he walked towards the dragon, bending down to touch it.
"Oh," said Ronan, and he cursed under his breath, and then he decided (bad decision, Ronan, bad decision) to follow it, but not before plucking another plump red strawberry off a bush and popping it in his mouth.
"Hey little buddy," Ronan said to the dragon, who was hiding in a bush. "I'm not gonna hurt you if you don't hurt me, all right? So, like, don't breathe fire or anything." He wasn't sure how he managed to keep his voice gentle, but he did it.
The dragon burst out of the bush and then flopped over. Ronan frowned at it, again reaching for the dragon, but this time not just to pet it - maybe it was hurt?
"AWWWWW ITS SO CUTE!!!!" Alia squealed.
Ronan saw the dragon struggle and he frowned; perhaps the dragon really was completely harmless. "Okay, bud," he said, "I'm going to flip you over, all right, and then I'm going to give you a strawberry." He was sure the dragon didn't understand him, but he reached and gently eased it to a standing position.
"Can I help?" Alia asked shyly.
"Go ahead," Ronan told Alia - he thought that was her name, he'd seen her around camp before. "Um, I'm going to get some strawberries. Maybe that will coax him - um, the dragon, you know, up."
"Okay." Alia picks up the dragon, stroking it. "Settle..." she said gently, charmspeaking to it. "He's trying to help you."
He saw the dragon cock its head a bit as he reached for a strawberry. Ronan frowned, going over what he had said. "Uh, she?" he tried out, wildly, running the hand that wasn't covered in strawberries through his hair. "You're a she? You don't like strawberries? Are you hurt?" Trying to talk to a dragon. That was a new low.
The dragon managed to squirm out of Alia's grasp and then it bit him. It bit him, and then it ran away. Ronan was too startled to do anything but stare after it.
"Uh are you okay?" She asked Ronan. "Your leg is bleeding..."
"Yup," Ronan said. He sat down in the dirt to examine it; there were two puncture wounds. "I've had worse wounds. It's fine." He looked after the dragon. "Harmless, mon derrière," he muttered.
"I can fix it. My name is Alia. Im new here. Aphrodite cabin." She sits beside him.
"Ah. I'd heard about you before," said Ronan. "I'm Ronan, I've been here a while, and I'm Khione's kid." He looked around for the dragon, and he'd lost sight of it.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ronan saw the dragon rush to a closer bush. His eyebrows shot up almost comically. "I thought the little guy - or girl - or whatever - was trying to hide?"
"What did you hear about me?" Alia sounded worried. "Do you mind if I wrap up your wound?"
"Just that you were new. I've got friends, you know." He smiled at her. "And my wound's fine. I'll just head to the Big House after this dragon business is sorted out and grab a band-aid."
Alia looked relieved. "Okay. And its obvious you have friends." she smiled. "Your very kind." She closes her guitar case.
"Aw, thanks," Ronan said, smiling wider. He glanced at her guitar case. "You play guitar? I've always wanted to, I just don't really have the patience to learn."
"Yeah, a little. I can teach you... if you wanted." Alia blushed a little, not used to being payed any attention.
"I'll give it another try." The dragon, out of the corner of his eye, appeared and disappeared after that. "Um, but we need to sort the dragon out first, I think." He laughed, and stood up. "So. It's not gonna let us pick it up." He plucked a strawberry off the bush and crouched. "Hey little buddy," he tried, "I have a delicious treat for you."
Alia laughs. "Your not doing it right." She plucked a berry and placed it close to the dragon, but away from the demigods.
Ronan mock-pouted. "All right. Let's see whose idea works." But he grinned, and held the berry out again.
"I win!" Alia smiles and picks another, doing the same thing as before.
"Oh... Where did she go?" Alia asked, disappointed.
Alia found the tail. "Oh come on... little dragon, just come out so we can make sure your okay."
"Good idea! We'd have to leave and come back later though..."
"Okay." Alia started picking berries. "Im just gonna play my guitar over by that tree." She pointed with her free hand at a willow tree down the path.
