Does anyone base their characters on comic book characters or storybook characters? Lol Sometimes, I look back and find that some of my characters are very similar to certain superheroes or supervillains or other protagonists and antagonists in other stories.

I can't say I do hahaha I base my characters mostly on people I know, at times celebrities, and others, well, stereotypes, as bad as that sounds hahahaha

Lol Really? Normally, I don't make my characters like that on purpose. I try to make my characters more realistic, so all my characters have both good and bad aspects to them. My first ones were originally based on my own personality. Margot actually reminds me of a blond Hawkgirl when she uses her wings to fly and when she uses her maces. I created Illyana during the summer that I started becoming more interested in the Marvel and DC characters and I named her after a mutant called Magik- whose birth name was Illyana Rasputina. At the same time, my Illyana reminds of Black Canary from the DC comics and another mutant- Wolfsbane- from the Marvel comics.

In other words, I am turning into a huge geek.

I also made Roxanne's middle name the Queen of Hearts' given name- Iracebeth- in the Tim Burton movie, because of certain similarities the two characters share.

I actually like hadn't really thought about how I make my character's personalities... But usually I guess I start off with a stereotype and then I build on it. Like Nic for example is the stereotypical gay kid but then he also isn't cuz I built on his personality

I feel like everyone, even real people, on first glance are stereotypes. But that's such a small part of their personality that once you start to know them you can't understand why you ever thought of them as stereotypical.

I never based my roleplay characters on stereotypes. Most of them are based on my personality and my perception of people, because I never grew up stereotyping people. I always believed people had their reasons and their different perspectives.

I kind of wish that we could still roleplay original characters on here. I think I could pull off a pretty good Zoë Nightshade, Frank Zhang, Hazel Levesque, Clarisse La Rue and Tyson. Lol Maybe even a decent Percy Jackson.

Anyway, I had originally been thinking of recycling and/or editing a few of my old-ish characters and creating a couple new ones. I already starting working on a daughter of Hermes as a new character. I would say she is variation of my son of Hypnos (Grayson), my son of Hermes (Wescott), and my daughter of Lyssa (Illyana). I probably won't be able to continue working on her and/or post her until Wednesday though. Lol Can't wait to return to roleplaying with you guys and introduce you to the new addition of the Hermes cabin! Lol 😄

Piper Mclean is the perfect example. She lives to go against Aphrodite cabin stereotype. I.e tries to be ugly, rough and tumble knife-fight kind of gal.

I have fallen into the pattern of being like: oh this falls into the "soft-emotional female" stereotype so I have to change it to a rough non-emotional-girl

I feel like it becomes such a stereotype of its own and it defeats the purpose. UGH I can't make a character without a stereotype creeping in

September 25th, 2017. I talked about finishing my daughter my daughter of Hermes and coming back to roleplay two and a half years ago. It has taken that long to work on these characters. Hm, okay.

I was reading my old roleplay of Hadley and Sadie. The old roleplay is still so sweet. Some of the aspects of it feel so much more relatable now than in 2015. They were so wonderful together! I miss the old days. I feel like I came up with wittier lines of dialogue or action back then.

Lol I can see it now. My poor Elana will be avoided like the plague because she is polyamorous and is openly polyamorous. Most people her age that aren't good at exclusive relationships just try to make it work and it ends disastrously. At least, she knows herself well enough to do what works for her and not let people think she is different than how she is.

I personally am not polyamorous. I am actually completely the opposite. I have to be single or dating in a committed relationship, because I know my feelings tend to be deeper than most people's and that I become attached. So I do what works for me. I stay single and don't date, because I am not in the right place in my life right now to be with someone seriously. That is also why I am okay with Elana being polyamorous. I created her in the hopes of her being realistic and individualistic just like my other characters. She needs to do what works for her based on what she knows of herself.

i really admire that you included a sexuality like polyamory! i feel awful saying it but i hadn't even thought to have a polyamorous character, it just genuinely hadn't crossed my mind

Thanks. I had that in mind for Elana for a while, but I was actually not the first to create polyamorous characters. I think crunchylemon has three characters who are in a polyamorous relationship together.

I was originally thinking that Brooke and Elana could be polyamorous girlfriends in between/after Brooke's on and off again relationship with Kendra. During all of this and her other relationships, Elana would slowly develop mutual feelings for my more old-school, gentlemanly gentlewoman Heather. Maybe there could be a love triangle with Elana, Heather and another girl.

Hm, I would have thought that Lexi might be polyamorous. She seems like she might be the type. I don't remember her ever being in an exclusive relationship before.

I just read Lexi's old character sheet and I feel like Elana would be able to connect and sympathize with Lexi. I also think that if Zac was a girl, he might make a good third in a love triangle with Elana and Heather.

Actually, I think Ash might make an interesting third to a love triangle. I was originally thinking maybe someone sweet and awkward would appeal to both Elana and Heather, but someone like Ash could definitely give an interesting twist.

omg im sorry i didnt see this until now! my notifications are all over the place with old groups i'm in the midst of clearing them out... and to be honest i hadn't ever thought about pyper's curse being broken, i wrote it to have no known cure so i think it would probably be about having someone who accepts the curse as it is before a cure could be found... as for lexi i really doubt it honestly. i think if the right person came along she might want to love again, for them, but i doubt she would ever seriously love someone

That's sweet. Unconditional love for Pyper and whoever she ends up with. I think her curse might have been an added complication to Illyana's problems that would already exist in a relationship between them. All of those things could make or break a relationship. I kind of wish Kendra and Pyper weren't in the same cabin now. I feel like Kendra would have been good for Pyper.

Well, that seems a little sad. Out of curiosity, why do you still try her with other people if you know they won't work out?

yeah i think with pyper and illyana's various pasts it was all just a bit much and yeah kendra and pyper might've been cute if they werent sisters hahahhaha

and i mean i dont really? but also i think that its kinda normal that relationships dont last forever and just bc lexi can't love anyone doesn't mean she can't appreciate someone while they're around

Yeah. I have been thinking of changing some of my current/soon to be possibly revived characters' godly parents, but unfortunately, I don't think Kendra is one of them. Kendra is such a daughter of Apollo as a healer, musician and jock that I can't imagine her being the child of anyone else. Maybe we can just roleplay them as sisters. I think that some of Kendra's best relationships were as a sister and friend.

One of the characters I was thinking of reviving was Skyler. I was thinking of changing her into a daughter of Eos, but the only problem then is she and Kendra wouldn't be sisters anymore- and I don't know if I want that.

i mean coincidences do occur! if i'm reading this right, i'm assuming niobe is also a child of eos? maybe she met from skyler's dad through his brother, niobe's dad haha

but also just because skyler and niobe would be sisters doesnt mean they have to be close, or even talk to each other that often, there's quite a few campers in each cabin! and if skyler is close with kendra maybe she spends more time in the apollo cabin rather than her own anyway

Lol I might just use Ray. I feel like Easton is a completely different character. Are you giving him the same memories as Ray? If Skyler's name turns up in one of your roleplays with Easton, I feel like I should be consistent with what you do.

The last time I mentioned Skyler in a roleplay, she was hospitalized for anorexia- I think.

Hah, I feel like friends with benefits is something that could be right up Elana's alley or Brooke's- assuming Brooke doesn't eventually end up in an exclusive relationship with Palmer. I haven't worked that out with Boba yet.

yeah if i were you i'd probably just stick with ray tbh, i doubt easton and skyler would ever have been a pairing!! but yeah i'll probably just start easton as a new character rather than associating him with ray, but with shay and rhys i'll keep their backstories the same, just change their names, as i kept both of their personalities the same

That would be an interesting idea if Niobe was already a daughter of Eos. What I meant before was that Niobe isn't. Niobe is a daughter of Nike. I guess another way I could make Kendra and Skyler sisters is if I changed their backstories, so that Kendra's mom adopted Skyler. That way, she could be a daughter of Eos and Kendra's sister. I was also thinking of giving Skyler a more traumatic past to fit/explain why she has these mental health issues, so her being adopted would fit that. I also think that would explain Kendra's sympathy towards and desire to nurture those that are injured or traumatized. I recently gave Brooke a more troubled past too.

No, it wasn't. Hospitalizing her was my way "archiving" her, but still maintaining the relationship between her and Kendra. I never actually roleplayed it, but that would have been interesting to roleplay. I am thinking of making all more used, old characters a little older too. I feel like it just feels right after so long.

Yeah, of course. I think he might not have a problem with it, because we decided that Brooke and Palmer would be a more mature roleplay. I think that Brooke seeing other people while dating Palmer until they are exclusive is more realistic. At least, that is my experience now that I am older.

Yeah, me too. I think I will revive Skyler. It's been a long time since I roleplayed her. Actually, I was looking for a face claim for a new character I was starting to work on and I found the perfect, new face claim for my sweet strawberry blonde. I don't know why I keep finding good face claims for all the characters except for the one I look for at that moment. When I was looking for a face claim for Elana, I found ones for Heather and my unfinished daughter of Melinoe and two possible ones for a future, older Sue-Ellen.

Yeah, I get that! Most of my characters are open to it, but there are some, like Quinn for example, who wouldn't date someone unless he thought there was a long term possibility. Then there's some, like Lexi obviously, who only looks for flings hahahaha

yeah i made cece just before i started my last years of high school, so school got kinda busy and i wasn't really able to roleplay with her much at all
