Read and Pass On

I joined this facebook group called RAPO - Read And Pass On. http://www.facebook.com/groups/ReadAn... Where we read books and pass them on to others. 'Passing on' constitutes courier, book post, registered post etc.

I just put up 24 books from my collection out there for RAPO!

If u notice most of them are those that i want to get rid of, while some are averagely rated. Primary reason to do so was to free up my shelf-space. If there are other readers out there who have overflowing shelves with unwanted books like this, RAPO is for u :)

Does passing on mean that we permanently lose the book or do we get it back eventually?

If u need it back eventually u can mention so, but if it is something u don't care abt much, u can let it go as well. Of the books i gave away, i asked Rafa to be returned back eventually.

I feel we are more likely to pass on the books that we don't like so much or the books that were just ok..

So how good it is Aditya, in terms of getting a good book that you want to read?

Till now i used it only to pass on my books. I have requested for Into the Wild but looks like no one has it yet.

Since it's based out of facebook, there is no way to maintain a list of books one holds etc. U can only respond when someone announces they have a book to pass on. But good thing is ppl are friendly and read them promptly. The group is in transit to goodreads now and i hope it becomes more easier to exchange once done.

Another good thing abt it is we can at least meet up guys in our own city and exchange books personally - eventually as a part of our own group meets.

I concede there are negative aspects to it but am surprised there are already close to 300 books in circulation and just proceeding in faith now :) I hope to find more faith to be able to ship books that i like as well :P hoping others wud do the same to me!
