Yup. I think that they did a wonderful job. i also thought the Harry Potter movies stuck to the plot well.

Actually, Suzanne Collins approved of that skip. She thought that it was the best way to shorten the movie a little at the start.

No, he was flirting, and that was so that the person watching the movie could see that Harry had a life outside of school.

That happened in more movies than just the last. The smoke clarifies what's happening with the Death Eaters to the viewers.
