There's two pipers in the group and it just so happens that we're on at the same time. A little confusing but she's my friend so I've gotten used to it.
Don't worry about running. I run a 5k every year to support breast cancer awareness and this year I beet my record. I'm sure you'll do fun at the race!;D
If you get a cramp in your side don't hold it just keep your arms swinging. I did cross country and I always used to hold my side it slowed me down. Try to slow down and walk out the cramp then keep going. Hope it helps and good luck.
I get them in my sides and it hurts like a mother trucker. My legs are like machines when it comes to running I have good speed and okay stamina.

Sumehra, I run cross country, and I agree, three miles are hard. Don't try to go too fast, and if you get tired, do a SLOW JOG, not a walk. If you get a stitch in your side, what I've noticed is that if I clench in my belly and bend over, it kind of goes away temporarily. It should go away by itself after some time. But don't worry about it. Three miles is really long, so DON'T TRY TO GO FAST. If you do, you'll get tired quickly, and you don't want that to happen. This race is about endurance, so set a pace that's good for you, that you can keep up for a while. If there are any downhills, use those to your advantage. Let gravity take over for you. If there are any uphills, use short, quick steps. Once you get to the end, give it everything you've got. If you want to do well, you have to sprint to the finish, even if you are tired, even if your legs hurt, even if you're out of breath. Oh, and bring a water bottle, and put it somewhere you can get to it quickly. You'll need it at the end of the race. Hope this helps!

I can usually avoid them, it's just that I can't stand the whole leg burning thing and I'm way better at short distance."Yes, so you're used to sprinting, then. Don't do that, except for at the end. Go slow, save your energy, but don't walk. Oh, and try to pass the person in front of you at the end, unless you are the person in front, then don't let the person behind you pass you.
