I always just start like this:

Nelson Mandela's birth
Detailed points included in topic:
1) Troubles in family
2) Community issues
3) What made him different from the rest of the boys in his village?
[and maybe a forth point, but usually I stick with three/ cause I'm lazy ^^]
4) What made him want to change the way things were?
I also have been drilled that one must never forget a proper into and conclusion.
Is there one specific point your are researching, or is it just 'About his life... blah, blah, blah'?
