An Unwanted Guest
I sat, smiling at the White Queen. She was our guest of honor this lovely dinner. There were biscuits and tea, made by yours truly. It was a wonderful holiday, I’ll have you know. We called it by the name of Horevendush Day. We were lucky to have the Queen; she was so very busy this time of year, not to mention all the threats from the Queen of Hearts.
And this didn’t even make sense to me. Why would you threaten someone so they knew you’d be going after them? But she’d been doing this for years now and all her attempts to kill our dear Queen were fruitless; so no worries.
The Queen was surrounded by our children, filling our hearts with love and laughter. She was a kind Queen, one that cared about everyone in the kingdom.
I heard my name being called, and I excused myself, standing up from my seat at the table and walking to where I heard it coming from. I was slightly annoyed but I guessed they needed more tea, or cookies, or something of the sort. “Tarrant,” I hear again.
I look to the left of me and see a short and stocky fellow. He is dressed like the rest of us are, with a sort of steam punk look to himself. I raised my eyebrows at him. In one of his hands he held the reins leading up to a pure white horse much taller than him. It was the White queen’s, I knew that. “What are you doing with Her Majesty’s steed?” I inquired.
“He is spooked; they want him moved out of the village. It senses something they don’t and I know that but they won’t listen!” The man wouldn’t stop talking, and I was even more annoyed. Finally I cut him off.
“Let me take him, I know the perfect place. Nothing is wrong,” I insisted. Without listening to any more of his ramblings.

This part you switched to present tense, but I love it!
*sigh* I do that way too often. I think the problem right now is that I'm talking to you and several other people in present, but then writing in past. Thanks for noticing that :D
