It is about the women who fought for freedom and equality in South Africa, and who are rarely mentioned in history lessons, although they suffered as much as the men who are remembered.

I rounded it to 3 stars--I didn't love this book, but it's very popular and many people seem to like it a lot.

I liked this one and Parable of a Sower, but her books tend to be dark so I am not planning to read more. I dnf the sequel to that one. I can see why this would have been one of your favourites for so long.

I am also reading The House Girl

How Stella Got her Groove Back by Terry McMillian
Eat Right 4 your Blood Type. 4 blood types, 4 diets by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo

Only a chapter or two into Miracle, but it looks like McBride has written another classic.
Nickel Boys ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kindred⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read that Eat Right For Your Type book a number of years ago, but since I'm type AB I found it didn't help me a lot, but it did spur me to start taking digestive enzymes which have been very helpful for me. (not nearly enough subjects to really get good info on that group plus I am in his group of exceptions due to allergies, etc :) ).

Both are excellent. There are some notable parallels between the two books, including what we expect and allow for people from different backgrounds.
