I’ve tried to read this a few times. I never make it to the end.

Very cool. I haven’t read Countee Cullen since undergrad and will look this up.

Nice review!! I didn’t really care for this book, but your review makes sense.

The Known World is one of my favorite books, but I’m just now realizing that it’s the only book that I’ve read by Mr. Jones.

I finished Vacca's previous book, Freedom Calling and thoroughly enjoyed it. And The Edge of Freedom has definitely hooked me completely! The history of the US Civil War era is accurate (I'm a Civil War buff!) It's about an escaped slave, but the story is not the usual fare, and is as exciting as it is spiritual and inspirational!
Vivid characters that you can laugh, love and cry with!
I give a thumbs up both books.

Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison is always a great place to start.

Dosha, enjoy. One of my favorites.

Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood I'm listening to The Millionaire Next Door.

I'm reading The Dew Breaker by Edwidge Danticat and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

I just bought Conjure Women, but I haven’t started it yet. Are you enjoying it?
