How do you feel about couples with large differences in age? (Like, somebody 40 years old dating someone 20 years old, for example?)

Maddison (Brainyboots) | 463 comments I don't really like it. Well I don't really see how it could work but it's none of my business

It's generally up to the individual's involved, but all aspects of their relationship needs to be looked at before they decide to commit.

Ruth | 2483 comments It seriously grosses me out when there's that big of an age gap. Especially if it's the girl who's like 40 when the guy is like 20. As much as ten years I can handle, but then only if the guy is older. If the girl is older any more than five years is sickening. But then, I can't stop them. If they really think they're in love, then more power to them.

What's the difference between an older guy and an older woman?

Agreed.
Though I think there's a law in some states (in the US) where it's illegal to date someone at least five years older than you?

I think that might be a little sexist. Are older woman so disgusting that younger partners should never be with them?

That's just ridiculous.

Personally, I think as long as both sides love each other then it's fine (as long as it's not for pedophilic reasons.) Doesn't matter whether the male or female is older (or in homosexual relationships, either).

Faye (asdfayeiouvwxyz) | 269 comments 40 and 20? That's a lot of gap. Age difference is fine for me as long as it's not two or more years lol. And it is much more acceptable these days if, well let's say, the guy's not younger.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay....I'm okay with it. I'm in a relationship with someone eight years older and my grandparents are sixteen years apart.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

It's my step grandpa....though. He's 36 and my grandma is 52

I don't understand why people think it's ok for the guy to be older but not the girl...I think that as long as the people are both mature and really love each other it's fine. Personally, the furthest I would go is 7 or 8 years but if other people love each other with bigger gaps then people should just let them be.

Islam Ahmed (islamahmed0904) So long as the couple has no problem with the age gap, then why should I?

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments If it's legal, so the are at a legitimate age of consent and they love each other then who am I to judge its love and that is the way of life.

Often I am doubtful of the amount of 'love' in relationships with people who have large age gaps, but it's really not my place to judge, though under some circumstances couples get together publicly the second the young one becomes legal, I think that's a little weird.

message 19: by Arwen (new)

Arwen I don't mind to much but i do have my limits like when a guy of like 60 marries a girl of maybe 20. It just doesn't seem right

message 20: by Arwen (new)

Arwen wow, really?
I don't judge but wow
