Michael The book was published in the last 4 or 5 years. British author, book is a dystopian novel taking place in Britain. The government forbids people from emotional display or something like that, but not like in the movie Equilibrium; it's somehow more believable. The main character keeps sneaking away to go to this kind of theater / museum...

...dear lord what is this book called.

Michael I went to Librarything and hit the 'dystopian' tag search ... and found it. Divided Kingdom by Rupert Thomson.
