Melody | 2 comments Hi all,

I'm trying to remember the title of a regency I read a few years ago. I feel like I've read it more than once so it's driving me crazy that I can't remember enough about it to search for it. The heroine is small, maybe with glasses? She and the hero meet at a school she once attended and where she is now working, I think. I can't remember why he's there but he ends up taking her with him back home. He's a duke or a earl. I think he's supposed to be helping her find a position somewhere. Maybe she loses her position at the school because of him? I can't remember. I think she's sick when she meets him. Yikes, I guess this really isn't a lot to go on, but I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

One of my faves, too. It was one of my first Barbara Metzger reads, maybe the first full novel, and it fully hooked me on her. BM ranks up there with Georgette Heyer for me.

IreAnne Chambers (ireannechambers) | 8 comments Hi all, I am somewhat new to this group. I have not commented but I have been following :) I love Barbara Metzger's Miss Lockhart's letters too! Also, another author that I have not seen mentioned, but who I absolutely love is Patricia Veryan. I believe she has passed. You may be able to get her books from the library. I have seen some on Amazon. I have read all of them from the library. She has also been compared to Georgette Heyer. She is such an enjoyable read!

HJ | 18 comments I love Patricia Veryan too! Really excellent books, though am I right in thinking that more of them are Georgian than Regency? There's at least one series which is about the Pretenders, Bonnie Prince Charlie and the 1745 I think.

IreAnne Chambers (ireannechambers) | 8 comments Yes, that is true. Many are Georgian era, 1700's, during the Jacobite Rebellion, but one of her Kirkus reviews compared her to Georgette Heyer and I thought some Georgette Heyer fans would enjoy her books also. I also just found out she wrote a book Autumn Loves with Barbara Metzger and Joan Smith which I have not read yet, but I hope to soon.

I just ordered it because (due to this thread) I wanted to try out Patricia Veryan and because I heard good things about Joan Smith--and because it includes a Barbara Metzger.
