Yep. I was initially waiting until we had some info to post, but everyone got antsy.
It sounds like he's done with the first draft and moving on to adjusting and editing as necessary.

Brandon What do you think will be the key events? Berlin Wall, Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Afghanistan (Soviet war there) and fall of the wall? Cold War spy thrills throughout?

Julia (juliatruter) | 167 comments all of the above and more. ;)

message 16: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliatruter) | 167 comments ahhh, i'm jealous. i've pre-ordered mine, but we get it a bit later here in south africa. estimated time of arrival - 5 october.

message 17: by Ross-Barry (new)

Ross-Barry Barcock. | 16 comments I assume you are talking about the Hardcover edition. How long before the Paperback will be released? I'm on page-300 of the "Winter of the World", trying to read slow,so I can go straight-into "Edge of Eternity".

message 18: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Generally they come out a year after hardcover.

message 19: by Ross-Barry (new)

Ross-Barry Barcock. | 16 comments 1-year! OMG, how am I expected to wait that long? Actually, all this is my fault. My plan was to purchase all three books before commencing but I didn't check the internet. I assumed all three were in print. Thanks for getting-back to me Brandon.

message 20: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliatruter) | 167 comments oh my hat, oh my hat - i pre-ordered it here in south africa and they said it would be delivered to me on 5 october 2014 - and i just got it now !! i'm in seventh heaven !! ;)

Robert Seaman | 3 comments Go to the local library and get on the waiting list, if possible. You can possibly download a digital version also from the library. You can still buy a paperback a year later.

message 22: by Robert (new)

Robert Seaman | 3 comments I have the Kindle version but I will likely download the audio version at some point. I can wait to hear the audio. Best wishes down in vuvuzela land.

I still have to read the last book. I got started on it and my stomach was already in knots and the Nazi's didn't even have the majority yet. I almost want to skip it and go to this one. I'm assuming Follett didn't leave the concentration camps out and I don't like reading about those. And the pogroms. The things that some people will do to others...My stomach is in knots just thinking about it. I know how vivid Follett can be and that makes me all the more nervous.

message 24: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Heather - I don't remember there being much if any descriptive detail about the camps. It's worth a read and makes this one more interesting as you'll know the backstory.

message 25: by Robert (new)

Robert Seaman | 3 comments Heather, I agree with Brandon. Winter of the World is a must. I happen to think it's rather special.

message 26: by Miguel (last edited Sep 30, 2014 11:20PM) (new)

Miguel | 3 comments I didn't like "Winter of the World" as much as "Fall of Giants", I'm very curious about "Edge of Eternity".

message 27: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliatruter) | 167 comments oh no, my husband grabbed the new book, as i'm still busy with other books !! ;)

I don't plan to skip it. I'm too OCD to do that. It's just be better for me emotionally if I did. =)

message 30: by Erica (new)

Erica (selina14) | 7 comments Just finished this book. Wonderful.

message 31: by Brandon (new)

Brandon I finished it too. I feel like this series started out fantastic and didn't quite keep the same level throughout still totally worth the read though.

message 32: by Marius (new)

Marius | 20 comments Absolutely wonderful book. Only thing I find reason to cirticize is the slightly skewed division between years... over 2/3 of the book done and not even finished with the 60's. Still, though, a great book.
I agree that Fall of Giants is still the best one.

message 33: by Angie (new)

Angie | 1 comments I really loved this series. This was a good way to wrap it up.

message 34: by Marius (new)

Marius | 20 comments Though far less intrigue, it would be interesting to see him do one with yet another generation, to witness the events of the 90's and 00's with the Gulf War, Serbia, Arab spring, and the numerous other civil wars and such. Just to see how he'd have done it.

message 35: by Erica (new)

Erica (selina14) | 7 comments Yes!! It would be great

message 36: by Ross-Barry (new)

Ross-Barry Barcock. | 16 comments Do my eyes deceive me? Is "Edge of Eternity" already in paperback? Or is Amazon playing tricks on me?

message 37: by Miguel (new)

Miguel | 3 comments I am reading it now and I can't stop it. Volume 2 was not good.

message 38: by Ross-Barry (new)

Ross-Barry Barcock. | 16 comments Miguel wrote: "I am reading it now and I can't stop it. Volume 2 was not good."
