My name is Heather. I'm a child, adolescent and family therapist and mother of an almost 10 year old.
I'm an avid reader, particularly of YA. I have found that my love for YA has allowed me to connect with some of my clients in ways I never could have, especially those clients who are most resistant.
I look forward to getting some great recommendations from you and also being able to share some of my favorite books.
Cheers,
Heather

Hi Lori and welcome. What do you sell in your etsy shop?

Hi! I'm an elementary resource teacher, specializing in reading and writing. No math! I'm also a writer of pet articles for my local community, reviews of books for young people, and a novel that is in progress. I've been reading books for all ages for most of my life, which is forty five years. :-)

Pleased to meetcha!

Yes, you're in good company here! :-)

Currently, I teach middle schoolers in Missouri. One of the best parts of reading YA is the connection I make with my students through book discussions.
When I'm not reading, my hobbies include learning more about educational technology, spending time with my 6 year-old son, and spoiling my 3 dogs.
I'm excited to join this group, and look forward to participating in the book challenges.

Ive been here for a while just never posted.
My name is Cheryl. I read all kinds of genres but YA-compte are amongst my favs.
Other things I love doing in my spare time is watching sports, listening to music, movies and socializing with friends.
Feel free to add me if you like!

I'm Jacinda. I am an English teacher; last year I taught high school, mostly seniors, but next year I am going to be teaching 7th grade (that's right, both extremes). Yesterday, I attended my first professional development meeting at my new school and I learned that I am incredibly out of touch with what the younger grades are reading. I've read all the "big" young adult books (Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent, etc), but I admit I could delve further into the genre. I look forward to participating in the discussions and challenges in this group.

We're new to GoodReads and love YA novels. The genres we prefer are science fiction, fantasy, steampunk, and some paranormal/supernatural. Dystopian novels are great!

My name is Jessica, from Australia. I've always been an avid reader of YA fiction. I tend to gravitate towards YA dystopias (although I must admit that, at this point, this genre has become somewhat monotonous), YA fantasy and YA science fiction. However, I am very conscious of steering clear from YA contemporary-- I just can't enjoy them! I loved the premise of this group and am looking forward to joining in the discussions and whatnots.

I'm Jenny, 20 years old from California. I still love YA books and graphic novels! Ahh.
I love mostly sci-fi but I love amazing story lines. Currently reading John Green's novels.

I have already read TFIOS! I quite enjoyed it. I'm currently reading Looking for Alaska and it's pretty well written so far, this story is getting interesting. Paper Towns up next!

Hi Jacinda. I'm a 7th grade reading teacher. I wouldn't sweat being unfamiliar with YA books for that grade/age. 7th grade is sort of when the kids(especially girls) start maturing and aren't afraid to tackle some of the books the older kids are reading. Your students will let you know in a hurry what they like.

I recommend Saga right now! :)

Recently finished college and heading to University in September to study Tourism & Events Management.
I'm a complete book junkie. My friends don't understand, i've stopped trying to make them to.
My favourite author is Jamie McGuire. I've read all of her books probably around 10 times each

@Megan hey girl! I work in your industry I work in a music venue here in California. I also work various events including comic cons.

Oh wow really? I work for an events company in England called Rogue Events? You may have heard of it? We run conventions for shows like Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf etc.
How long have you been working for your Comic Cons? :)

I started writing my own novel in 2008 and I'm still writing it now. I'm determined to be published one day, but I am not rushing it. I want it to be the best novel I'm capable of.
I almost always need romance in a novel to keep my hanging on, but Harry Potter and Skulduggery Pleasant kept me captivated with minimal romance :)

You sound like me....! I do have a novel on Amazon KDP called Small Matters, A Mia Marten Mystery, which is YA. The reason I mention this is it takes place on Kangaroo Island off South Australia. I've had a few Australians read it (I'm in NC) and so far no issue with setting. As far as romance, have you read any Jane Austen? If the archaic writing style is a little tough to get through, try the movies first: sense and sensibility, pride and prejudice, Emma, Mansfield Park. If you are including romance in your book, these are classic romances with strong female leads that may give you some ideas. Best of luck to you.
