Got to add The Giver to my list - well, push it higher up the list. I've been wanting to read that for awhile.

I'll let my boss know... ;)

Thanks Laura!

LOL Fiona, and in a fun group, sooner is better.

I thought you might also work there! It was really my favorite section of the store to work in.

I'm Sharon, 32, occasional library student, and promiscuous reader. Good to meet you!

Hi all! I'm Jennifer from Upstate NY. I'm 27 for the record. Sadly, I don't work at a job that naturally encourages YA reading, but I read as much of anything I can get my hands on whenever I can. I've never stopped reading YA, and whenever I go into the YA section of my library I just want to grab whole shelves and abscond with them. ;)

I'm in Manhattan but I end up in Ithaca a couple times a year. I love going up there, and especially shopping at the farmer's market!

Have no fear, I would LOVE to check out your slice of the world. I've only been to Europe once, to Barcelona.

Haha, yay! Thank you! And please tell me you go to Wegman's all the time.

I'm Carolyn (38), and I live in Fairfax, VA, right outside Washington DC. Unfortunately I don't have a job that works in any way with books or kids, but I'm a voracious reader and have two young girls (20 months & 5 years), the older of whom is already reading on a 1st/2nd grade reading level.
I read across the spectrum of books, and while I have always enjoyed YA books and read them for myself, I'm also noting those that would be good to introduce my DDs to, when they are old enough. Last year I picked up the Shannon Hale books and some of the Donna Jo Napoli books (although I still want to read the rest of her retold fairy tales when I have time.)
My current TBR list is over 10 years long, even reading at my best rate, but I'll get to them eventually! = ) I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy, which are often appropriate for YA readers, but not marketed that way, so if anyone is looking for good recommendations in those genres (other than the Lois Lowry books), I'm always happy to help!

I can't imagine that it's closing, so are you leaving Ithaca? Are you there for school? I would live at Wegmans if I could.
Welcome Carolyn! Which Donna Jo Napoli books have you read?

Let's see, for Napoli, I've read Bound, which is a Cinderella retelling set in ancient China. I've also read her Prince of the Pond Otherwise Known as de Fawn Pin series, which I enjoyed and I'm now reading them out loud to my daughter. We're on book 2 Jimmy, the Pickpocket of the Palace, right now.

Oh, Wegmans...I wish we had one here.

Second book is about one of his frog offspring, Jimmy, who gets turned into a boy, and the third continues Jimmy's story with that of another frog, Gracie.

Yeah, I'm leaving... I went to Ithaca College, I'm graduating in a week (!) so I will no longer have the glory that is Wegmans unfortunately.

Well, congratulations on graduating, even though it means no more Wegmans. Does it also mean no more B&N? Are you going home?

Wegmans is a SUPERDUPERmarket. It's amazing. The only one I've been to is in Ithaca, NY. Not sure where else it exists, but it should be everywhere.
