It's technically June 13th now so I started (can't sleep - insomnia). 23% in and I'm hooked! (view spoiler)[Loving the X-Files references! And what the heck is up with Ben? Did he really heal Janelle? I'm drawn to Janelle and Alex and even Ben right now. Wasn't sure at first with all the high school stuff, but now the creepy X-Files are starting and I loved the X-Files!! (hide spoiler)]

Great start so far! I won't be able to read tomorrow until after work so you'll pass me up, I'm sure! ;-)

Yay, Karen! (view spoiler)[ It gets even more crazy as you get going! I can't wait until you get about halfway through it! My favorite part of the series is definitely Janelle, she is a great kick butt, smart MC! I also really love Ben in this one--not so much in the second book! (hide spoiler)]

I love Ben! And this book is just smart. It could be so much fluffier and trite, but it's smart. I love the way she incorporates things that other authors do so obviously - and she does it more, like, sleekly. (sleekly? Is that a word?) More smoothly, in a way that you don't notice.

Actually, Jen, I like the (view spoiler)[ alien concept. But he was a kid in the ocean when he was saved by Janelle. But Reid did make that drunken comment about Ben being obsessed with J since they got here, so it does make you wonder what the heck are they? Maybe a parallel universe or dimension? I love sci-fi!! I am now wishing I'd always had the cool parents who called me "J-Baby." Love that nickname. And . . . (view spoiler)[OK, I suppose we had to go with the whole "cops in charge of the multiverse" option, much the same way Tempest did with time cops. I wish she could have avoided that somehow. It just seems so gimmicky.

Karen and Jenny - a question for you - (view spoiler)[What was the significance of J getting drugged and possibly raped at the party? That whole incident seems completely unnecessary to the story. I realise it sheds light on how Ben could have killed Sam, but other than that, it seems extraneous. (hide spoiler)] What do you think?

Just finished. Total tears at the end! Great book, though. Jenny, I have to know if (view spoiler)[J and Ben get together in the next book. If you tell me yes then I'll read Unbreakable. If it's just one big disappointment or really sad then I'll skip it. (hide spoiler)]

Thoughts at the end - (view spoiler)[Seriously, she killed J's dad AND Alex? Unbelievable! I wish it had been her Mom. There was just so much for J to handle there at the end - losing Alex, losing her Dad, losing Ben. I woiuldn't have blamed her if she had just laid down and died. Poor girl! (hide spoiler)]

They do, Jen, in a kind of round about way. Janelle really shines in it, and actually Barclay is the other lead role, and he's awesome! It does have a sadish ending.

80% in. This is an amazing book! And yea, I'm not sure why she keeps going back to that freshman year scene either.

Finished! Loved it! And yea (view spoiler)[Alex? Why oh why? It did seem like she was writing him out of the story line there towards the end but killing him was just cruel! I'm still torn up about the dad. :(

Also, I keep thinking about the importance of that incident with drugs and near rape and now think it has something to do with Kate. Kate really betrayed Janelle. One of the worst betrayals ever at that age. I think it's significant somehow. Ben played a part, but I think it's Kate. But then again, maybe it was just filler and has nothing to do with the overall story. ;-) (hide spoiler)]
