Aw geez. This tough. As you can tell from my profile picture I am a big Hermione fan, but I will be honset on this one. I think it would be a long battle. Spells shooting everywhere, deflected spells bouncing back and forth. They are pretty evenly matched. Harry has a natural talent and all, and he has lots of luck on his side, but Hermione has the knowledge on Harry's fighting weaknesses and how to use them. But she would hold back also , sense she is friends with him. Harry would do the same but not as mush as Hermione would hold back. But I think Harry would win. My reasons? Hermione has a nasty habit of thinking TOO much before acting. She would either over strati or hold back and let him win in fear that she would hurt Harry. Harry wouldn't have such issues (the "what if I hurt her" deal would slow him down at first but he would move on) and he would win by a little "Stupify" or something. But it would be very close. But honesty, Hermione would toatly kick his luck butt if she was his enemy/really ticked at him. That is what I think. LONG LIVE HERMIONE AND HARRY POTTER!!!!

I am afraid I have to disagree, Kimber. When Voldemort died, he took that part of him in Harry with him. I not saying Hermione would win, I am just saying his soul was extracted of all traces of Voldemort. But Harry would still win, from my reasons listed in my review. :-)

Exactly. ALL the spells are important in a duel. Each can have a significant impact on one's opponent.

plus i think that harry has better instincts than hermione - which is more important than level-headedness, especially in a duel.

I agree
She would do better in this situation than Harry - the classroom environment is where she excels. Harry, on the other does best in real life, scary situations."

I don't think he did become a. auror. I read all of the books

Well you obviously haven't read J.K. Rowling's canon pottermore content.

Yes he did, if you read J.K Rowling's new update on the characters at the Quidditch World Cup, you would know that Harry and Ron became Auror's and Hermione worked for the Ministry. J.K Rowling already said this even before the Article was released to the public. *Hermione Voice* Honestly, don't you even read?

I definitely agree with this. Hermione might be smart, but Harry has had more practice with this area of magic. Now if you're talking potions...

He would try something unpredictable (something someone else brought to his attention) and try to catch her off guard. He would get first blow. She would use stuff he knows, perhaps forgot, but in a more clever and surprising manner. He would get mad, recall an image of his parents, and do some major, barely remembered, counter-attack but collapse from exhaustion due to the effort. A surprised Hermione would be defeated, barely. But she would be impressed by Harry's resolve and embrace him. Call him "bloody incredible." Harry would smirk and pass out.

Harry only beat Voldemort because Voldy could not use the Elder Wand against his owner. Without that advantage, there's no way Harry would ever win against Hermione.

And you think that after seven years, Hermione hasn't learned anything and still act like a little child?

I want to say he's got better instincts too, but I can't. Because Sirius.

Hermione in practicality, on paper, seems like she would win. But she's not cut out for this type of instinctual battling - her first instinct is to run to the library, and if that fails her she's
lost in what to do next. Harry may not seem the best in the classroom but he's always been on
his toes when it comes down to it. He's an unbelievable seeker, has killer instincts, and somehow always manages to get the upper hand in a battle. This can only be luck the first couple of times; after that, there has to be something else going on.
Despite the fact that hermione had all the smarts and possibly knew more jinxes, hexes, and defense enchantments, Harry was chosen to run the da. Because Harry had real experience and the obvious instinct that everyone saw in him. Since he was a child he was bred to take down one of the most powerful wizards in history. His fighting skills are honed to the sharpest point and he has an uncanny instinct of self preservation. And that's what matters in duel, much more than book smarts or a large repertoire of jinxes.

Hermione would outwit and take out Ron in the beginning. Then Harry, with his dueling know-how and reflexes, and she would both be at a standstill until Harry would catch Hermione off her guard or she would try a new spell on him.
Based on the previous previous comment, I think that it would be Harry that would win because he knows more tricks and has done more dueling than Hermione.

but with help of Hermione

This is true but also Hermoine bested Harry in all other subjects which can also be applied very usefully in a real duel. For reference, when Dumbledore duels Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic, they use transfiguration and certain charms to battle each other with sand and then they animate statues just as is done in the Deathly Hallows. So to be in a truly talented and interesting duel, you need to excel in transforming your landscape not just the formalities and specific attack and defensive spells taught in DADA. In Dumbldore's army however, Harry does hint at this and thats another benefit to the Room of Requirement, it is a versatile environment perfectly capable of containing any duel or spell.

I think Hermione would win even though Harry is very talented Hermione is clever!
