Luna falls, a small town off the freeway, in Oregon. Never heard of? it? Nor had Tawny when she pulled off the freeway because she wanted to have a little fun. The first, out now, is called Temptation (Natalie's Edge, #1), the second installment, Fall, will be out in May, and Redemption will be out in August.
The Natalie's Edge series really is a contemporary erotic romance that follows the love story of Natalie Smith, a sweet, borderline naïve woman and Michael Black, who is learning what it means to love and pushes Natalie's limits along the way. It does, however, have darker and edgier elements which don't quite fit the "romance erotica" category. I'm not sure it fits as dark though either. Let me explain.
My book is one of those things that doesn't exactly fit into a narrow category. There is romance. BDSM. It is contemporary. But it also has darker elements. The darker elements are emotional, maybe even cruel at times, especially in the second installment. Michael likes to toy with Natalie's mind, body, and soul. It is angsty and dark.
Yet, it cannot be classified as Dark Romance. It's somewhere in the middle. There is a bit of infidelity and the hero is a damaged, dominant male who teases the heroine to the point of almost torture. Much of the darkness focuses on the way he likes to deny her orgasm, tease her, and play mental games that may not be for the squeamish. The reviews have gone from Michael's far too cruel to he's not cruel enough. You decide!
I'm looking for readers who like those elements. I love the topic of female orgasm denial and what that does to a girl's psyche. But I also love the tenderness of a love story, where both characters have wit and humor and ultimately, against better judgment fall madly in love. What I write is not easily found and doesn't easily fit a category. I write my stories because I like darker elements without any of the violence of extreme pain, though the series does have quite a bit of bondage punishment and some spanking (in the second series).
