The main character is going on a cruise with her best friend. When she is on the cruise she meets a man, who pretends to be her husband to save her from bad company. They pretend to be married for the rest of the cruise and enjoy the benefits of "married" life. In the second book it is revealed that he had cancer and his heart is failing from all the treatments.

I believe it is a trilogy, but I can't remember. I read it just about 3-4 months ago.
