I had to read this book for school when I was younger, it's really an Aussie ya classic. Glad you guys are reading it, this book makes me proud to be an Australian. (Sorry for the random comment)

I love this series - it had the greatest impact on me when I was a teenager. Probably the books I reread the most.

okay, so I hope no one minds, but I just started this and there is a lot of name dropping. Which is great, full group of characters, but the narrator makes a point of saying that what she initially thought of everyone has drastically changed from before and after.
so I wanted to do a list of her before people & their traits and perhaps compare them after.

and this way I can remember the gaggle of kids :)
this is all in chapter 1:

Kevin: (view spoiler)[ your typical rural. oldest of the group with a big ego and liked to take credit. But he's Corrie's boyfriend and she said he's caring. he has big hands and possibly works hard (hide spoiler)]
Lee:(view spoiler)[ dark hair and eyes, he has a light voice. his parents own a restaraunt and he's good at music and art. but he's sulky and, if upset, may stop talking to them for days (hide spoiler)]
Homer:(view spoiler)[lived down the road from MC and is wild and outrageous and tended to be in trouble and pulled a lot of pranks - most sound harmless. He's one of the biggest guys in school. He's also a hunter and likes to swim. (hide spoiler)]

I really like seeing how everyoe has changed. To me, the list above was really helpful as i went along

Homer (view spoiler)[ he has made the biggest change, I think. Really juggling the well being of everyone just by helping keep the moral up. If the moral fell for even a moment, they would be in trouble. PLUS he's coming up with some great survival ideas and is helping them think smarter. (hide spoiler)]

Ellie (view spoiler)[ I really like her being the one narrating. I think she's a strong character but is trying to not be biased but tell it like it is. I like her insight into things and the way she words some things. (hide spoiler)]

Oh, I loved that book! I read it last summer (literally a year ago :o) because I was bored in Australia, and my NZ host mother recommanded it to me.
It was awesome, I literally couldn't put it down for days like the characters are awesome, Ellie is great, there's action, I learned Aussie words.. I had to buy the next one, so I read it right after but then I got lost in the 3rd (I don't know if it's because I was so busy with school or something) so it's still in my nightstand waiting for me. (Call me if you buddy-read book 3 ^^ ?)
