Folk was the music of the 1960s protests, but it's a tiny fraction of today's market and radio. I say that as an unrepentant folkie. Folk protest is still being written, but you have to work harder to find it, and if you write it, you have to work harder to get heard. Well, unless you go viral.
There are some good protest songs in rock and rap as well, though they aren't the ones that get airplay. I would have called Rage Against the Machine protest music back in the day. And a whole lot of punk.
Lastly, the protests in the rest of the world are full of music. It's just not in languages we understand, or it's in modes or styles that are foreign to our ears. There are some brave, brave musicians out there writing songs to fuel their countries' revolutions.

Here's an interview with him: http://blog.songpier.com/2012/12/17/m...
and here's his song "System Down": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLJde1...
Here's an NPR piece from earlier this week about protest music on an upstart Libyan radio station: http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/20...
Scout, I was not a member when I posted that...FYI.
Oh, and thank you, Misha. I think it's fair to say that you spoke many of our minds.

no i will reserve my sad sigh for less LG. that is just not right! LG = Terminal Coffee in my estimation.
Really? LG = Terminal Coffee? Hmmm. She's smart and quick witted, sometimes funny as all hell and great with a pic. But, saying she IS TC? No. That diminishes too many fantastic, clever, brilliant friends here. I have to totally and yet respectfully disagree, Mark.

Susan is a sweetie. She's like peach pie with a side of vanilla bean.

I feel okay with it.
Aww, you guys!
I feel like blushing and awarding myself a slice of pie.

Here's an easy trick. Get some Minute Tapioca, it's by the puddings, looks like a little teeny box of minute rice. You put a bit of that (there are suggestions on the back depending on what kind of pie) in with the fruit and sugar and it helps it set up and not be all watery. Piece of cake! Or, pie...
(Pecan pie is probably the easies dessert on earth!)
Go for it!

Why won't my pics post?
STUUUUUPID GR!
STUUUUUPID GR!

Mark, it doesn't resemble tapioca at all. It's a little red box, by the instant pudding. It just makes the pie innards set up nice. Minute Tapioca. You can't miss it.
Lar, I'll bake you a pie next month. What kind d'you want?

I have to also disagree. Bunwat, Barb, Sarah Pi, Phil and Misha are also interesting. Heidi has that maternal online persona.
Random Antony and Arminius also have posted interesting threads (circa 2011 and before), but they are MIA.

___________ is such a dumbass. Can you believe _________ ate a ___________ then drove to ________ and coughed up a fur ball the size of a ____________.

but why?

Phil is a regular who posts stuff under the thread: "When Was The Last Time You Ate. Hotdog & Cosco Disucssion> But That was a Long Time Ago". Can't remember under what folder that is under.
Clark=Dr Detroit and is the man who coined the phrase for TC (i.e. "This is not a tupperware party for assholes").He's active under the music thread.

Noted, although I don't see you as the boogieman, I would like to know though why Scout retaliated this way. Because, it isn't the first time that she complained about feeling left out etc. (In her defense, I can understand why she's upset-because she has been a TC member for a long time. Saw this under the members tab).

But I do feel bad that you feel bad.

Back to post # 125.

I think it is over a feeling of being left out that you are hurt. You should not. It has nothing to do with shunning or keeping people out. For me, it is more about being able to have the few that I wish held a little closer and let into my life a little more.
But I still take time to come over here and talk to people I enjoy. When they are enjoyable, that is.
