Peanut: Ayun Halliday Rating: ** Bookshelf: Eng 420 Status: Read May 19 GRAPHIC NOVEL
Peanuts begins with main character Sadie moving to a new school. Sick of moving, Sadie decides to try something need to make herself stand out at the school—she pretends she has a deathly peanut allergy. Using this allergy as a conversation started, Sadie begins to make lots of friends at her school, including a super cute boy. Eventually, Sadie begins to feel bad for lying to her friends, but she’s in too deep and doesn’t know how to reveal the truth. Ultimately Sadie doesn’t have choice when one day she accidently eats a peanut and the whole school erupts into panic! Sadie is forced to deal with the consequences of lying to her own school. This book was a really quick read and funny and engaging but I also thought it was a bit superficial.
