. Pretty riveting so far. I can't imagine being in her situation, namely waking up without knowing my name.
Now I am reading "Here I Am" by Jonathan Safram Foer. It is very difficult to read, since I am not a native speaker. It is written quite hard
Hi, I´m Lauren Buell and I am currently finishing up White Oleander by Hanet Fitch. I love it so far--poetic language that describes Astrid´s experience so well.
I also loved White Oleander!I've just started reading Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, which for whatever reason, I have not yet read in all my 75 years! ;)
I am reading a new book named "Cuentos de amor, de locura y de muerte(Tales of love, madness and death)(Annotated)(Translated)Horror Story in English" from amazon. This is actually a Spanish book but translated in English. I must say the translation is very good.I almost finished reading it.
Amazon link(Not affiliated):https://www.amazon.com/Cuentos-madnes...
I found only this book translated in English. All other books in amazon are in Spanish and I don't know Spanish. If you want to read then just copy the link.

I am reading 3 books: Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan; Political Fictions by Joan Didion; American Pastoral by Philip Roth. I'm really enjoying all of them!
Just saw Jennifer Egan at The Portsmouth Music Hall: Writers on a New England Stage. She was a delight to listen to. Cannot wait to read my signed copy of “Manhattan Beach”!!

Have been trying to read the Minds of Billy Milligan but either the book is not for me, or I have 0 energy left to read :(
I just finished Without Merit by P.S. Meraux and John Green. I found it very compelling and fun. Will be posting a review shortly.
I am currently reading Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. It is truly an intense read. The story of two half sisters in Africa, one free and one enslaved. The writing is amazing.
To Maya:I would also like to read this----sounds intriguing, as I have a sister. On of the best books I have read on Africa---(South Africa), was " the Syringa Tree" By ? The writing also was spectacular. Some of the best books come out of Africa---it must be such a beautiful country to produce such excellent writers!
I recommend, Freedom Calling: A Civil War Slave Escapes By Sea. Wonderful characters you will laugh with, cry with, and root for when danger threatens to overcome them!

I hope you know that Africa is not a country, but a continent. :)

Hi, I'm Charlene and am new to posting on this site. But I felt compelled to write something about the two books I just finished reading.I just completed The Diplomat's Daughter by Tanabe and We Were the Lucky Ones. Truthfully, I was blown away. We Were the Lucky Ones had me from the first chapter. I was pleased that it contained the actual accountings of what was happening during WWII. But, I've decided to take a break and read a fluff novel now. Does anyone else do something like that?
Charlene wrote: "take a break and read a fluff novel..."I most certainly do the very same. I recently read a nonfiction book about Catherine the Great, which took me a while. Right after that I read a couple cozy mysteries. I also try to change genres after each book I read (or every few books depending). Something I have done since I was a kid.

I finished the Autobiography of Malcolm X. This is an excellent book. I learned so much about him. I would recommend this book.
I finished "My sister's keeper" by Jodi Picoult and about to start reading "Birdsong" by Sebastian Faulks.
I’m reading Heft by Liz Moore. It’s interesting so far...I really enjoyed another book by this author called The Unseen World.
