I loved The Joy Luck Club. And I loved the movie. Bought it first as a video, then a DVD. I go through a box of kleenex every time I watch it!

Finished by Jenny Lawson 4 stars. Another wonderfully funny and poignant account of the author's struggle with depression. Highly recommend the audio version read by the author.

also finished by Amy Gentry 3 Stars. I wanted this thriller to be as good as I had anticipated, but the ending fell apart for me, and the the chapter layout was confusing at times.

Hi! I'm currently reading Le Charme Discret de L'Intestin by Giulia Enders (It's a translation from German and I know it was translated into English -Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ ). So it's all about our gastrointestinal system. It's very well written, full of humour and most importantly accessible to novices!
That's really interesting and I'm learning and discovering things about my body that could explain lots of my health troubles.

I'm also reading Lamentation by CJ Sansom. I'm enjoying it.
And finally I've started reading The Silmarillion by Tolkien. I loved The Lord Of The Rings series and The Hobbit. But here, the writing style is different, so I was a little bit confused at the beginning. But now, I'm enjoying it too.

Synopsis

Trisha aka Trish was a typical 15 year old good girl from a urban neighborhood. She grew up in areas most people would condemn a "ghetto" but to her it was home. She was a great student who kept her grades up with no other focus than keeping her eyes on being a success in life. She was the second oldest in her single parent household after her older brother Tracy and followed by her twin younger siblings Tron and Triece. She was raised by her single mother Ms. Smith who constantly attempted to fill her head with advice on dealing with her life decisions.

All of Trish's goals and focuses come to a halt when she is approached by a much older man by the name of Ryan aka Rain. Rain was a big name street figure who came into Trish's life and exposed her to the gilts and glamour fast money could bring. His pretty boy appearance and constant display of affection for Trish had her mind wide open to any and everything he wanted to do with her. He was a grown man molding a girl in transition to being a woman, into a puppet for his own personal use.

Trish was also being adored by her older brother Tracy's best friend Jay. Jay was a young man on his way to graduate high school trying to find his path in life as a man. He was in love with Trish and was not afraid to let her or her family know how deep his feelings were for her. Trish could see his repetitive attempts to gain her attention, but did not have time for a good boy with no money. She was lost in a world where easy money and verbal reminders meant more than respect and self love. In time chasing a man like Rain would lead her to situations no young girl should have to face on their own.

Hi I just finished an awesome book called Separated From The Flock by David Brand. Its a memoir and an intense page turner! some of his experiences are a bit disturbing but its so well written! Loved it. Definitely worth the read! Check it out. Its on Amazon kindle, and I think Nook as well.

Howdy! I'm currently about halfway thru . It's different from other YA stuff I've read. I like that that author puts me in the head of not only the female protagonist but also the male ones as well. You get to read what they're all thinking/feeling, about any situation.
