I started Hollow City by Ransom Riggs after reading Miss Perregrine's Home for Peculiar Children earlier this year. Really enjoying it even though I am only on the 2nd chapter.
I must honestly say I am currently not reading any special book however, make no alarm, I will take some occasional break from my studying and writing, and start reading a book. In the interim, please take a read if one of my poems. Feedback welcome and appreciated. Please see poem below:Sweet Moments
Though I speak in foreign tongue
your unhesitating sense of understanding, evoke my every being,
Never have I felt such a deep belonging,
Oh! sweet nothing, yet sweet everything,
So captivating, so mesmerizing,
I 'm swimming in the gem that many sought but have yet to obtain
Oh! such unexplainable suspense of sweet liberation
Take me in, hold me still
Take me where it's hot, and water flowing like spring from a hard rock
Take me through moment of forgettable existence of the universe,
That graced only by a double presence with time standing still
If winter should come, keep my eyes open,
but if they should blink,
and I should be caught in moment of sleep
wake me up in this same moment of sweet delight,
Oh! How long shall this last?
I love the thought of forever,
But moments in a lifetime sound comforting,
Oh! endless moment of sweet desire
Keep me here, and let me be,
Keep me here, let it last,
Let this Euphoria last; moments in a lifetime or forever.

I am currently reading Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. Fascinating & beautifully written. It is based on four women with rough pasts who migrated from China and their American born daughters. The way it is written makes it easy to read and captivating at the same time, and the stories of the women are a mix of heart-breaking, brave, and joyful. A real tale of hardship and the happiness yet struggle afterwards.

Shanghai Girls is the 1st in a 2-book series; the 2nd book is darker and more depressing, but Shanghai Girls was a great book. The other 2 books are stand-alone books.
Nobody Cries at Bingo, The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu: And Their Race to Save the World’s Most Precious Manuscripts and
Fingersmith
Sleep by Nino Ricci and just completed an amazing book called Ru by a Canadian author named Kim Thuy.
I am reading - again - Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I know, I know, it was published years ago but for any new writer who wants to learn how to create characters this small book would be hard to beat. And for readers who want 'quiet time' curled up on a couch with a glass of wine and a copy of this book - well it's to be recommended.Best regards
Patrick.
Nice to meet you! I'm Gina.I'm reading Beacon by P.S. Meraux, its the second book in the series. Beacon It's a YA paranormal romance novel mystery. There's something about the way this author writes that draws me in. I forget that I'm reading a work of fiction and feel like I'm merely observing these characters as they go about their lives. If that makes sense.
I'm new to the thread, so I've been looking at the postings and making a list of other books that I plan to add to the growing stack by my bed.
So allow me to offer my thanks.

Nice to meet you too.
I completely agree. There's something about the writing that has me hooked. I've just started Beacon myself, but I've already bought the next two in the series.
I agree. Wonderful imagination with a number of broad-shoulder ideas that carry the reader along.Best Regards
Patrick.

I'm reading one of Thomas Hardy's books 'A Laodicean A Story Of Today'. Even read his 'Mayor Of Casterbridge' and 'Far From the Madding Crowd', Beautiful classics !
I actually read that book, Xunaira. It was slightly amusing but I didn't understand a lot of the humor in that book. It takes a lot of thinking to get the whole concept.
You should try my book: "Don't Judge me: A woman's motive'. It's a collection of short stories about women who do some very questionable things. You would loves it. Super relatable for women.
It's $1.99 on amazon and free on smashwords.com.
