Finished Praxis by Fay Weldon. I read a couple of her books long ago but had forgotten her unique (I suppose that's the word) view of women and all things else!

Finished
by John Boyne-- 3 Stars!WWII- Poland: Nine year old Bruno notices that the people behind his house, behind the other side of the barbed wire fence are all wearing grey striped pajamas and he's intrigued... The innocence of Bruno is the piece that pushes this book further for me.

I have just finished the Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, a page turner, easy to read, interesting voices (an alcoholic main one), fits our present times, flawed but entertaining different but on the same vein as Gone Girl.
Just read Green on Blue: A Novel , a tough story on the war in Afghanistan but worth reading . My review : https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished Salvage the Bones & The Flight of Gemma Hardy, now I need a lighter read. I am in a mood for some humor, so I will start Stuffed: Adventures of a Restaurant Family today.
Finished
by Kent Haruf-- 4 Stars!!Wasn't expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. Really surprised by how wrapped up in the lives of the characters as I was.

I'm currently reading
. This is sooooo not my usual style, but I am enjoying it. Not one of the creepy books he usually writes, but it's also not very uplifting. Interesting to say the least.

Interes..."Mamey , this was the first Stephen King book I read and I loved it . I am not a fan of the creepy , horror stories but this let me see what a good writer SK is. Since then I read Joyland which I also loved .
So, Angela, Joyland isn't horror? I haven't quite managed to read any if SK's books since I read one of the early scary ones. I don't do well with those. Nightmares & everything!Lela
Just read The Book of Ebenezer Le Page. 4 stars . My review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...StartingOne More River
Just finished The Christmas Thief by Mary Higgins Clark. Cute, quick read but now I need something a little more suspenseful. So whatever I have on my bookshelf...my great finds at used book sales.

Hi Everyone, Reading
by Andrew Pyper Also on my currently reading are:
by Sophie McKenzie
by Gwendolyn Womack
by Stephen Metcalfe Recently finished Reading
by Paula Hawkins and....
by Laura Dave and they were two incredibly amazing books. Both left completely different emotions stirring inside and both are unforgettable. I get super excited when I see "The Girl On The Train" everywhere and I can't wait to see the same for "Eight Hundred Grapes". It's rich in Love, imagery, feeling, heartache, healing, loss, finding, family........simply Beautiful and Laura Dave is a true artist with her work, in my humble opinion. I highly recommend both books I mentioned I read. I'm fairly new here so hello everyone and I hope you're all well. Thank you for letting me share. So exciting and a Fantastic start to the 2015 releases.
Finished
by Eowyn Ivey-- 3 Stars!!Russian fairytale retold on the Alaskan frontier in the 1920s. Magical, Chilly, and powerful characters make this book worth reading...

I'm in a spiritual vein at the moment.Just completed Dorothy Day's autobiography, The Long Loneliness and am now immersed in Thomas Merton's The Seven Storey Mountain. (This year is the centennial of his birth.)
Am also revisiting classics I read in my life when I was too young to fully understand them. Right now I'm about a quarter of the way through William Faulkner's The Sound and The Fury.
I finished Train Station Bride by Holly Bush and here's my review.I'm now reading Deception by Lisa Clark O'Neill, Southern Comfort #3.
hello, all Nicole from Florida right now I'm reading a daily devotional Change Your Posture Change Your Life by D Nicole Williams and Redefining Realness by Janet Mock.
Wow! I can't wait to read
!
. --Amazing Read! Best of all Flynn's books in my opinion! Also as for the Steven King Disscussion
. Was really good! It's not a creature scary novel, but it is more of a mystery. I think Angela M would like it.I am reading:
I believe book number 4 in the "Autumn" series! I love his version of zombies and the beautiful expression of characters, growing, changing and struggling.
I finished Deception by Lisa Clark O'Neill, Southern Comfort #3, and loved it. Here's my review.I'm now reading Nemesis, the next book in the series.
Just finished "Dreaming Spires" by Laurie King - a Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell mystery. It's a lovely book. Much info re Japan when Hirohito was the Prince Reagent. Involves ninja (one in particular....well, maybe 2) blackmail, beautiful books, forgery, betrayal, death, murder, the Bodleian Library in Oxford, sons & step-mothers, breaking & entering and safe cracking! I always enjoy the Sherlock & Mary books but felt they had lost a bit of oomph. With this one, though, Ms King seemed to be on her game. It was interesting, puzzling, and fun. Wish I didn't have to wait for the next one!
Did not like Twelve Tribes of Hattie. It was scattered and solved nothing except that it tried to point that religion or faith solved none of Hattie's issues when she wasn't a believer in the first place. Like the issues of her childrens lives were not of their own making. The novel also never really got to the root of why Hattie was so angry even before August and the children abd worrying of their survival her sister Pearl had said Hattie was always impossible to please.
Throughout the book I did not find one character likeable and especially Hattie. She was just so angry. Even though August was not the man he needed to be for Hattie, his moments of tenderness towards his children were th few redeeming moments in the entire novel. Not a good or enjoyable read.
Just finished One More River . 4 stars - my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Starting today Cardigan Bay

Great review and I couldn't agree with you more. I hated that book. Thought it was terrible and couldn't understand all the wonderful hype I'd heard abou it at the time.
