This is next on my TBR pile (right after my book club reads). Thanks for the review Angela. I definitely want to read the book before I see the film. :-)
I saw the movie the other night after I read the book . I think it was a decent depiction of the book . There were a few minor differences and the movie does not cover his life after the war . That was a little disappointing but I still liked it . I think it's good to read it before the movie.

I don't want to see the movie characters as I read the book. I like to form my own impressions, which I can't if I see the film first. In the book, characters have a depth that cannot be achieved on the screen.
Anne, i totally agree. The problem then becomes I have a difficult time accepting the person in the role on screen if he/she isn't like the one in my head!

And I'm forever nit-picking about what was left out. Or explaining character motivations, that aren't clear in the film, to friends who haven't read the book.

Anne , thank you so much . I really appreciate your kind words . I could change my profile . I really like connecting with other people on Goodreads and I enjoy seeing what other people are reading and commenting on and reviewing and that's easy to do if you are Goodreads friends. I'll be glad to change that in my profile in case people would just prefer to follow .Thanks again .

I'll send you a friend request, it's just as easy, so no need to change your profile :-)
Currently reading The Replacement by Brennan Yovanoff. Almost done with it & I have really enjoyed it so far.
Brittany wrote: "By Brenna Yovanoff. I guess my phone decided to change the name for me. :) Anyone else read this?"It' so annoying when my phone/tablet auto-corrects my comments/emails. It happens to me a lot. I try to catch most of them but sometimes you miss a few. Readers must think that either I can't spell or am lacking in basic writing skills - lol
Ten wrote: "Anyone read The Shack? Heard it was a pretty good read from a coworker."I never finished it, but my mother raved about it too.
Ten, I did read The Shack a while ago. Would not recommend it. Facile and contrived is my opinion. I do know many people loved it. I'm not one of those to say the least.

Just finished "Still Life" by Louise Penny. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the next one.
Hi, Angela,I love historical fiction. Here are some of my recent favorites: _The Book Thief_ by Markus Zusak, _11/22/63_ by Stephen King, and _The Invention of Wings_ by Sue Monk Kidd.
Read Queen Sugar. 3.5 stars . My review : https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...About to start The Language of Hoofbeats
Finished
by Chip Heath and Dan Heath-- 3 Stars!Good nonfiction read about changing behavior in a stagnant world...

I finished "City of Illusions" which is a book I won from Librarything. Pretty good. Probably 3 1/2 stars. Good story idea; pretty well-written; some of the characters needed more depth & less self-focus....not a likable one in the bunch so it was difficult to care about them. The city of the title is Rome, Italy, but the illusions belonged to the characters not the city.I am close to finishing "The Miniaturist" and I think it's going to be a 5-star! 4 1/2 at the least!

Finished
by Diana Gabaldon-- 5 Stars!! First 5 Star read of 2015. I know I'm late to the party on this series, but I can't express how hesitant I was to read these. I'm not a fan of science fiction or time travel, I also hate starting unfinished series... This book was so much more than I could explain. I fell in love with the Highlands...

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Entertaining and easy reading with loads of fantasy characters and surprises hiding in the shadows. It should grab the attention of most "Teen Horror/thriller with a hint of sci-fi" Genre fans with a twisted dark side.
Chapter headings set you up for what follows and explains the content without giving the plot away.
A fitting subtitle "we see what we need to see" with a fitting book web site.

I read The Shack and loved it. It was a life-changing read for my brother-in-law who read it after the loss of his 21 year old first born and only daughter. I would recommend it. It's good to be open to people's diversity/unique ideas. Gave me a lot to think about.
