3 stars6 students form an elite group studying Greek at Hampden College. Tragedy strikes and the reaction from this is the basis for this novel.
I'm still reading A Constellation of Vital Phenomena which is really good and listening to The Signature of All Things on audio which is great!
I'm enjoying The Poisonwood Bible. It is one of those books that I purchased a few years ago and have just let sit on the shelf for some reason. It is written from the view point of each individual character, switching from character to character with each chapter.
Jabulani, While looking through topics or files which were listed under the Oprah listing, I ran across a post that was specifically written to help Indie writers. A woman posted a link to a recording made to help Indie writers.

I just finished Caleb's Crossing I loved this book and the story touched my heart-I give it 4 stars:)
Beth, I do the same thing. Reading one book and listening to the audio version of another. At times I use the whispersync on Amazon and Audible allowing me to switch devices and pick up where I left off on the other.

This book is so beautifully written, can not put it down,Julia Blackburn travels through Spain and visits the places where the famous painter Francisco de Goya walked and lived, imaging what he must have seen through his eyes,to create his works of art that has made his work so famous.Julia Blackburn takes the reader into Goya`s silent world for the remaining 35yrs of his life after becoming stone deaf at the age of 47yrs after an illness. All my life I have been connected to spain and have traveled to many places,Julia Blackburn`s work takes me on a journey of Spain, that I now see with different eyes.

Angela - do you sleep? That's a lot of books for 10 days! Well done!I finished Care of Wooden Floors. Strange, strange. I gave it 3 but probably more like 2.5. It did have a few redeeming qualities, I guess, but I was happy to finish. Why can't I just walk away. No, I MUST finish,. Sigh. I started The Enchanted last night and The Space Between Us this AM. Like both so far!
Lela ,Yes I do get some sleep in ! Some weeks I have more time than others to read and this was one of those weeks and none of them were extremely long . :-)
Angela, really liked that one. Are you liking it? I'm reading The Enchanted and The Space Between Us. Both are really good!
Lela , I'm only on p37 but so far I like the writing . I want to read both of those so I'll look for your ratings !
Lela wrote: "Angela, really liked that one. Are you liking it? I'm reading The Enchanted and The Space Between Us. Both are really good!"I LOVED The Space Between Us - what a fabulous story and beautifully writing!
I'm currently reading The Last Letter from Your Lover - I just started it but so far I really like it!Considering how much I loved Me Before You and The Girl You Left Behind, I don't see how I cannot help but love another book by the wonderful and talented Jojo Moyes!
Angela wrote: "I'm betting you will , too , Beth . I loved all three of those ."Then I am going to want to read her newest book....
Who wrote _The Space Between Us_ (the one you mentioned)? I wanted to have a look at it and I see multiple books with that title on goodreads.
Laura, it was written by Thrity Umrigar. She has written several wonderful books. A reader I know liked The Weight of Heaven best. I think they are all good. She was born in Bombay and has a degree from Bombay Univ. She is now an US citizen & attended Kent State & Ohio State universities!
Thrity currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio. She practises Zoroastrianism and belongs to the Parsi community of India.
I love her writing. Her background as a journalist for newspapers gives her a step up in detailed, clear writing. Give her books a try!

I've just read Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi AdichieMy review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am currently reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. I am in love with this book so far! I have read many awful reviews about this book, but I now understand that some people cannot always accept things for what they are. The author is truly in another atmosphere; far from mediocre.
I've just got back from a trip to India where I read the journals of Fanny Parkes, 'Begums, Thugs and White Mughals', edited by William Dalrymple. Fanny lived in India between 1822 and 1846 and her journal was a wonderful travel companion. You can read more about this feisty and fascinating woman, (and a little about my travels) here: http://awomanswisdom.wordpress.com/ca...
