Mish | 3601 comments I wasn’t able to finish Rhubarb.Unfortunately the writing style didn’t suit me.

I'm now in the middle of reading The Long Song and it's going well for me so far.

I'm really liking it Dee-Ann. I'm three-quarters of the way through it and I am actually looking forward to my after work bus ride so that I can keep reading. :)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Today in drama we finished the read through of a play called "I'll show you yours" (dodgy as it sounds). We were hoping we'd like the script and do it for our semesters performance, but it was horrible. When we were done the teacher said: "Its like this guy took a dump on some paper and called it a script."
its like the fourth script we've reading in six weeks for drama, and are no closer to finding a good one.

Do you need to perform a script that is already done? Couldn;t you make your own but perhaps on something that's already been done, so it is your take on it? I did this in drama class and it worked wonderfully.

Adhityani (dhitri) Just finished Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff as part of my Autumn challenge AND March challenge - what an awesome book! Can't recommend it enough especially if you're into historical fiction (only this is non fiction), ancient Egypt and Roman history, and generally obsessed with strong female figures in history...!

Here's my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now wondering what to read next...

To Kill a Mockingbird is a brilliant book Brittany! Enjoy!!

message 3213: by Adhityani (new)

Adhityani (dhitri) I just finished book #3 for March non fiction challenge and a book that a gazillion people urged me to read since I took up running... Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.

I am a Murakami fangirl and obsessed with running (typical with delirious newbies)... So it was five stars to me, no surprises there.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments What I am reading at the moment -and I am so excited about it- was a birthday present;
The Forgotten Islands

It is a really cool story of the authors love affair with Islands and how it took him to the islands of the Bass Strait, difficult and expensive to reach and very isolated. I have always been fascinated by the, and I am rationing this book chapter by chapter...

Wow! That's a blast from the past! I remember reading that when I was about 14, for Year 8 English class. I don't remember the details of it, but I remember being horrified.

And speaking of YA literature, I've finished The Hunger Games and am now halfway through Catching Fire, book 2 in the trilogy.

Now I'm hoping someone in my family will take me to see the movie when it comes out as a birthday present seens how it comes out a few days before my birthday! :D

message 3220: by Mish (new)

Mish | 3601 comments I just finished The Long Song by Andrea Levy it's a very interesting but sad tale about slavery in Jamaica in the 1800. I liked it but there were parts were it was a bit rushed - 3 stars

I'm currently in the middle of The Romantic by Kate Holden for my Non Fiction challenge

My parents wont let me go to the midnight premiere, but I'm going to the first showing after school on Thursday with a few friends who are just as crazy about the series as I am. Haha we were such a tragic sight today watching the live stream, screaming when Jennifer Lawrence walked past in that stunning gold dress, and Alexander Ludwig...*swoon*

She did nothing but complain about how the stupid names making it impossible to read for a week, and saying she was so close to dropping it completely. Then she got to the interviews, and she's read like 100 pages in the past two nights. Shes obsessed now :D

That’s so good to hear about your mum Sherri.

I went though a period of about 3 or more years where I lacked the passion & motivation to read. But as soon as my niece gave me the Twilight series, I haven’t stopped reading since. It’s seemed to have restored my love of books again

I think Twilight has done wonders for a lot of mums out there :)

Adhityani (dhitri) Finished another non fiction (book 4) - My Life on the Run: The Wit, Wisdom, and Insights of a Road Racing Icon by the iconic Bart Yasso, who woks for Runner's World and s essentilly paid to run all over the world.

He is dubbed "The Mayor of Running" for his dedication to bringing the sport to non runners nd gnerally help runners to get ttheir goals, new or seasoned. The book is a collection of the stories he would share in a pre-race gathering. They are funny, mindblowing, moving, in short, inspiring. Five stars.

I'm thinking of reading 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'. It seems interesting, and the movie version of it looks amazing from the trailers. Has anyone read it yet? I've heard it's told in journal entries, so I'm thinking maybe something like 'Dracula'?
