No, I read it prior to AR, when I wasn't writing reviews..I only started that once in this group:)
It just wasn't funny IMO...I can't remember a lot about it, which says a lot, I do remember I skimmed a lot though. I borrowed it from the library, thankfully. But my opinion could well be different from yours and others, so don't take any notice of me;)

message 1919: by Adhityani (last edited Jun 18, 2011 09:43PM) (new)

Adhityani (dhitri) Currently reading Water for Elephants, halfway through now and really enjoying it. The book flows effortlessly, there's great period detail but have yet to get to some depth (as in, when are the Jacob and Marlena going to hit it off?). I look forward to discussing this with others, I remember many of you here were planning to read it...

The first part of the book just felt like blabber..lol I'm now up to the 2nd part where they are out to sea. I found the first part of the book it be rather confusing but the 2nd part is looking interesting.

You know sometimes when you read a book but not sure if you like it or not but keep going anyways? That's me currently..lol

Laura, stick with it. I found it a great read, but you have to let the story build. I was thinking about it doe days afterwards.

Maggie Finished Dear Fatty yesterday and really enjoyed it.

Then I started The House of Lost Souls and I'm hooked already. Sounds like I need to find a copy of Before I Go to Sleep sooner rather than later.

Adhityani (dhitri) Ooooh I just finished my second book of the Winter Challenge, Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants.

It's a very entertaining read, the perfect book to unwind during the cold winter nights. It's not high brow lit, yet the period details and fast paced plot make up for the cliches and shallow characters. And how adorable are the animals!

Please find my review here:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now I am tossing up between Before I Go to Sleep and my other Winter Challenge books. Not to mention the Non Fiction July challenge will be on soon! Hm hm hmmm...

Already read State of Wonder for that!

But I have decided to read that next anyway... right after Tina Fey's Bossypants just because I need something to brighten up this cold, rainy and windy day (yes, I hope to finish it in a matter of hours!).

message 1944: by Michael (new)

Shannon Lorraine (o_myword) | 6 comments I have about 5 books going at the moment. Mainly because one is 994.pg's (WMF*) and another is 667.pg's so I have been bouncing around a little between my bedside stack (A habit I really need to kick)
The Last book I held in my hands was 'A Wise Man's Fear*' by Patrick Rothfuss and I am 201.pg's in... Loving it!

I've read a few people say it's a book they think about often after it's finished which is partly why I was drawn to it :) I will stick with it.

message 1949: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 328 comments I have started The Gathering. I liked The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The style, a collection of correspondence, was easy reading and very much of my mother's vintage.
