Maggie Just finished The Copper Beech for The Autumn Challenge. This was a re-read for me, only 2 stars, but ok to while away a day. Now I'm on to Murder at Mansfield Park, something quite different I expect.

message 1488: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 328 comments Finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy . I like the writing style. Some aspects of the storyline annoyed me a little, but it is a page-turner.
This morning I started Burke's Soldier by Alan Attwood .

message 1489: by [deleted user] (new)

I am currently reading Mort. I have been meaning to read some Terry Pratchett for ages as so many people love him. I found it confusing where to start. After a lot of recommendations I have settled on Mort. Here I go...

message 1490: by Neko (new)

I really love this one. for a debut novelist, he does a great job of creating a time and place when real things happen to real characters.

message 1492: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Awesome, it's on the 1001 books to read before you die list, so I will have to read it

message 1493: by Trish (new)

Trish (bowedbookshelf) Really! I wonder who made that list?

message 1494: by Michael (new)

Sally906 | 87 comments The really long weekend has meant that I have the odd occasion to read between spending time with our visiting 3 year old grandson. So in and around trips to the Wildlife Park, movies and jumping crocodile cruise I finished Ill Wind by Rachel Caine - still have my review to do - have almost finished Sole Survivor by Derek Hansen. So a good break

Gail, I love Terry Pratchett! Especially his series about the young witch Tiffany Aching and The Wee Free Men. Start with "The Wee Free Men" and go from there. They're really funny, delightful YA novels. 5 out of 5 from me. The sad thing is that Terry Pratchett has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's.

This series sounds great ... another book just added to my TBR pile/mountain.

Dee-Ann | 644 comments Jo, you are right it is sad. It must be terrifying to have an early diagnosis, knowing that it will get worse, and at this stage, there is not much you can do about it, except prepare for it getting worse.
