I finished
and thought it was as good as, if not better than,
. It certainly does enhance the experience to have read Harold Fry first, but isn't essential. Here's my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...and now I'm reading
because I saw the shorts for the movie coming out 27th Nov starring Jennifer Lawrence, and I had it in my TBR. I have read another Ron Rash book,
and can recommend that. This one is a GoodRead too ;)

I've started my second ever Stephen King novel, The Eyes of the Dragon, and am finding it to be a great read! I believe it isn't typical Stephen King, and nor was my first, 11/22/63, which I also enjoyed. This one is a fantasy (not usually one of my favourite genres) written in the style of a fairy tale, although at 470 pages, it's a bit longer than your average fairy tale.

I'm a quarter of a way through Golden Boy by Abigail Tarttelin. I think it's amazing and the author is quite young. She seems brilliant!
I started A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman last night. I love it; Ove's such a grumpy old man and the writing is wickedly funny.
I finished Thin Blood by Vicki Tyley. Highly recommended!

Happy dance! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the story, Phrynne. :D
Just one typo... in the review, you have Vicki Tyler rather than Vicki Tyley. I didn't even know there was an author named Vicki Tyler.
Carolyn wrote: "I started A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman last night. I love it; Ove's such a grumpy old man and the writing is wickedly funny."I asked my library to get this book in but no sign of it yet...

I'm on page 307 of 704 of Here be Dragons. While Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart might be my favourite medieval characters, I think Welsh Prince Llewelyn and his bride, Joanna, are fast becoming my fave medieval couples. My dec'd Welsh father is humming with pride over my shoulder.
I'm considering reading All That Is Solid Melts into Air by Darragh McKeon again even thought I have only recently finished it. Best book of 2014 in my opinion. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...But I have too much to read, so I'm reading Excavation: A Memoir by Wendy C. Ortiz instead
I finished Big Little Lies Odd title really but a fantastic book.

Phrynne, I always love your concise reviews, but I'm just going to hold off reading this one until I finish reading it myself and write my own review.

I loved the title Phrynne, and so glad you liked the book so much too.
I've been reading very slowly lately as I've been reading two dark novels at once (and I'm usually such a happy-ever-after kind of girl!). It was tough going, but I finally finished Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. Review here. Beautifully written but pretty grim.Am also reading The Girl with All the Gifts, which started off fun but I can see is heading to a dark place. Will just have to read some more Kevin Hearne to cheer myself up when I'm finished!

Good review:) What was your rating Marina?

Brenda wrote: "What was your rating?"As you could probably tell from the review, I was a bit conflicted on this one. Loved the writing, hated the story, so I couldn't decide on a rating and left it blank!

I just started on Paint Your Wife
(isn't that a lovely cover) by Lloyd Jones and am really enjoying it Elaine, Carolyn and jeniwren, take note. It's written before Mister Pip but this is a new edition by Text. You might enjoy this one too, Dale...

I am reading a mixed bag at the moment. Silver Wattle by Belinda Alexandra for the spring reading challenge, Beautiful Things Happen When A Woman Trusts God by Sheila Walsh which i am halfway through and need to have finished by tomorrow night for book club :). Also started An Anzac's Story by Roy Kyle as we went to Albany WA on the weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the boats leaving for gallipoli....a very moving experience.
I seemed to have slowed right down with my reading - have been reading the same 3 books for a while now - none of them are bad - in fact am two of them are brilliant - A Sudden Light by Garth Stein and Man Drought by Rachael Johns - very different genre but each to be savoured. the last book is non-fiction and I am reading a bit at bedtime each night as the flow allows me to do that - Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse: And Other Lessons from Modern Life by David Mitchell
