I bought Dodger today at QBD for $9.99. It looks excellent but I have to read some other books first for April challenges. I have read nearly all Terry Pratchett's other books!

I've only read a couple of Pratchetts. I'm looking forward to Dodger and one of these days I will get into the Discworld series properly.

I still remember the day I read The Color of Magic Discworld#1. It was so entertaining and very clever. I couldn't stop after that and went on to read the whole series. So sad that Terry Pratchett is now not well.

I love Terry Pratchett's books! They're some of my frequent read books, and as soon as I start reading one, I'm just swept away in the story.

I started Room last night and sadly, so far, I really don't like it. I am finding the way it is told, in an artificial child's voice, to be very irritating. I will plough on though and hope it grows on me.

I have avoided that book because it is told in a child's voice even though many people have recommended it, I think it would really annoy me. I will be interested to hear your final thoughts on it Phrynne.

No this one is not for me. I will finish it because I want to know what happens but I wish I hadn't started it. It is unique - just not my thing :)

That was probably my main issue with it too. I always dislike authors trying to talk like young children. It never works for me!

I also had that reaction to it Phrynne. I finished it, but wouldnt recommend it. There was a distinct lack of authenticity about the story telling which irritated me.

Where did you get your copy of Sydney Bridge Upside Down Donna? We had a thread going about it awhile ago http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9... and I was trying to find a copy...I didn't!

message 5085: by Kyla (new)

Kyla Corrigan | 94 comments Well I finished Tomorrow, When The War Began and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a book my husband owns but unfortunately he doesn't own any others in the series. As a result I'll be taking a trip to either the book store &/or library tomorrow to get the next installment :)

message 5086: by Kyla (new)

Kyla Corrigan | 94 comments I have just started reading Boys of Blood & Bone by David Metzenthen. It's a book I bought a few years back for the kids because they had to read it for school. To be perfectly honest I don't think any of them (3 teenage children) actually read the book. I hate a book to sit on the bookshelf unread, so have taken it upon myself to do what my children didn't :)

Jess (jessiquie) It's freezing out my way today, and wet and dreary... so perfect book reading weather really.

I'm currently reading two books at once - Beneath Outback Skies on my Kindle and The Farmers Wife in paperback - I couldn't decided which to focus on so I keep switching between the two.

Deb Kingston (aussieideb) | 11 comments Thank you for adding the link I could not figure out how to do that.

I have now just finished the last chapter and highly recommend this book as a gripping testament to the human spirit and the devastation wars have on generations of family. Shirley Walker writes this (memoir) with such heartfelt emotion a wonderful Australian author.
