Ruby stood like a statue in front of the Forbidden Forest.
Wind made her robe dance, and her long black hair shimmered in nightfall. She was always more fond of the night rather than the day because the moonlight always shines the most beautiful things.
As the wind turned into breeze and the usual fog was coming out of the forest, Ruby stood there looking without really looking.
It was still 1:30 AM, but she came earlier to prepare herself for the worst. By the end of tonight she could be dead, murdered in cold blood like her mother and brother. Οr maybe it was a secret admirer that thinks the Forbidden Forest is an appropriate place to meet her.
Honestly, she did not know which she preferred.
She was ready to take a step when she heard footsteps behind her.
Oh Merlin, why?
"Go away." she growled at him, not really surprised he followed her there.

message 4277: by Ally (new)

Ally (scribblingsprite) | 562 comments Henry was fair distance away from Ruby, hidden in the shadows and concealed by the branches of the tree he'd climbed just minutes ago.
He peered at the girl through squinted eyes. The cursed darkness made it nearly impossible to see, and he wouldn't dare reveal himself with the Lumos charm.
What mischief could she be up to? He couldn't get the possibilities off his mind, though he tried. He had enough on his plate already, but he sensed trouble. And it was always up to Henry to deal with trouble, or so it seemed like.
He watched as Ruby quietly made her way into the forest. What she didn't know was that somebody was following her.
Henry smirked. He knew he would come. And Ruby must have known it too, because she turned as if expecting the noise.
As for him, he'd follow in silence.

message 4285: by Constantine (new)

Constantine Kostakis (kostis) "Well, well! Caught you in the act. Who are you meeting here and why?" Frederic demanded with a stern voice.

message 4286: by Lyra, Caretaker of Hogwarts (new)

Lyra Dargwin | 1806 comments Mod
Ruby rolled her eyes.
Those Gryffindors are always looking out for trouble just to prove their bravery.
Ruby didn't turn to face him and when she replied she was still facing the dark forest.
"Why are you here Gryffindor? You don't even know my name, and yet you are willing to risk everything by breaking the rules and coming out here. Is it that important to show that you are valiant?" she asked bluntly.

She just wants him gone.

message 4287: by Constantine (new)

Constantine Kostakis (kostis) "Who said I do what I do for bravery? 'One is not judged by his house' you said so yourself.." Frederic said raising his eyebrow. Then he took a look around. "Where is the other halfwit?"

message 4288: by Lyra, Caretaker of Hogwarts (new)

Lyra Dargwin | 1806 comments Mod
"Then why are you here, if not to prove your worth?" she asked again.
"He was obviously smart not to come. Or maybe he lost interest, for all I care."

Ruby took a deep breath of the fresh cold air. She turned sideways to face him and she waited for his answer curiously.

message 4289: by Ally (new)

Ally (scribblingsprite) | 562 comments Henry rolled his eyes . He was losing interest. Not quite ready to come out of his hiding place, he studied them intently. When they got going, he'd follow.

message 4290: by Constantine (last edited Sep 23, 2014 01:17PM) (new)

Constantine Kostakis (kostis) "Ι don't think you're in a position to ask questions. I could just go back to the castle and have the professors deal with you. For all I know, you should be happy I came here alone." Frederic's face had become cold as ice. No one would believe that he was the shy introvert who walked the corridors looking at his feet. Suddenly, the sound of leaves rustling came from inside the forest and a figure could be seen for a brief second before it disappeared between the thick set of trees. They both turned and stared in the distance.

message 4291: by Ally (new)

Ally (scribblingsprite) | 562 comments Henry tensed at seeing a dark figure slip through the trees so near to where the other two stood. He dropped to the ground without so much as snapping a branch and pulled his wand out.

Ruby was pleased. He got all defensive, and tried to turn the focus on her once again.
She saw no point in trying to get him out of there, it would only result badly. So she decided not to care what happened to other and since he was going to stick around,
"What's your name?" she asked.
They suddenly heard noise and they both turned and spotted a figure in the darkness.

Here we go. she thought, expecting to see the ugly stance of her father.

But instead, Nicolas Morth came out with his graceful walk and spotted her and the Gryffindor.

"Αh, Mrs. Thornwall, I see that you've received my invitation." he said with his usual manners.
He took his eyes from her and placed them on the Gryffindor guy.
"And I see that you, unfortunately decided to bring company." he said, always polite although this time displeased.

((Guys, please check out Nicolas' profile on the thread.))

message 4293: by Ally (new)

Ally (scribblingsprite) | 562 comments ((I read it))

Thinking it wise to be as silent as possible, Henry cast a spell to mask any noise he might make before creeping closer. Once he was close enough to identify the new figure, he crouched in the shadows, wand still at the ready.
So it was Morth she was meeting, he thought distastefully. A meeting between two lovers? But Thornwall didn't seem the type to fall for Morth's "charms."
Most people did, though. But not Henry. And hopefully not Thornwall.

Ruby got really tense. She froze, and her body was more like a statue than ever. Only her eyes betrayed her, shocked that is was Nicolas who wanted to meet her. A part of her was relieved, since it wasn't her father.

"Nic? Why on earth did you want to meet with me? Whatever happened, happened in the past. I told you, I want nothing to do with you." she said icily.

Morth let out a little laugh, and then replied
"Oh come on now, Mrs. Thornwall, once our paths were crossed two years ago, you knew I wouldn't let you get away that easy. You still have a lot to offer me."

The classy, polite way Nic was speaking nauseated Ruby. She knew it was all an act. She turned around, she saw the Gryffindor take a step towards Nicolas.

message 4295: by Constantine (new)

Constantine Kostakis (kostis) Frederic. Frederic Hildebrand." he said not bothering to offer his hand.
Frederic watched the conversation trying to record every detail of what he heard. So they know each other... 'A lot to offer me?' He approached Nicolas putting out his hand. "I'm Frederic. Who are you, my friend?" he said almost as politely as Nic.

message 4296: by Ally (new)

Ally (scribblingsprite) | 562 comments Henry knit his brows, looking stern. Why put up a polite front when all you really wanted to do was rip each other's throats out?

Ruby wanted to scream.
Friend?
This Frederic guy didn't know anything and yet he simply offered his hand and talked friendly to Nicolas. Was he fooled by him?

Nicolas laughed as he took Frederic's hand and introduced himself,
"Well, what a pleasant handshake, hello, you can call me Nicolas. And I suppose you're Mrs. Thornwall's escort for tonight?" he said enthusiastically. He was enjoying Ruby's suffering and was totally taking advantage of this poor guy.

Ruby suddenly took out her wand and said calmly..
"Hildebrand, step back and shut up. This is not the time to be making friends."
As she pointed her wand at him, Frederic faced her.

Ally (scribblingsprite) | 562 comments ((She pulled the wand on Frederic?))

((Yes, to force him to step away from Nicolas.))

message 4300: by Constantine (new)

Constantine Kostakis (kostis) "Escort? Nah! I was just curious." He said smiling. "Oh aren't we all a jolly company?" he remarked as he turned stretching his arms to both directions. But when that Thornwall took out her wand, "Apparently not." he added flatly. "Careful now." Frederic took out his wand as well and stepped back.
