"That book is really good." she said, trying to smile and hoping that she would not to freak Delany out. Last time she smiled, a kid got all loony and scared and he ended up hurting himself.
And the sound of that annoying mumbling was on again. This time Ruby turned to Petra and asked roughly:
"Alright, what is your problem?"

"So, um, does she even have a pass for the Restricted section?" she said, taking the opportunity to sit down.

"I'm in Ravenclaw, 6th year." she replied.
"And you?"

It was like Ruby was watching herself 3 years ago, happy that she had friends and family and enthusiastic about everything.
"That's great, we're in the same house." she replied, with her usual cold self coming back to the surface.
"So, I better go back. I have some reading to catch-up to, and I should let you read as well."
She turned around, ready to leave when she heard somebody falling down, and lots of books were scattered on the floor couple of desks next to her and Delany.
It was Petra.

Without blinking, she went back to her desk, grabbed the book and headed to check it out and leave the library.
Whatever Delaney reminded her, she didn't want to remember. As she walked past the two girls, she didn't even looked at them and she left the library to head out to the common room.
((Eve, it's really fun Role-playing with you, but I think the library doesn't give us inspiration right now. If you want, you can follow me to the Ravenclaw common room and continue there. If not, I understand and thank you for role-playing ^_^ ))

Conrad made his way into the library, passing numerous shelves as he went. Soon, he stopped and sat down at a table to read, hoping that he would have privacy this time.
Natasha walked into the library looking a sight. Having just persuaded Madam Hammond to release her from the Hospital Wing, she decided the first thing she wanted to do was research the child-like creature they had encountered, head pounding or not. And it was pounding all right.
Conrad looked up for a moment to the newcomer before lowering his head once more. He tried to sink into his seat, hoping he wasn't bothered.
Natasha confidently strode over to the librarian. A few whispers were exchanged, the librarian smiled and waved her hand, and seconds later Natasha was slipping into the Restricted Section.
Conrad watched her go in and became curious. Putting his book away, he slipped into the Restricted Section and followed her, trying to be as quiet as possible.
Stopping at the Magical Creatures section, Natasha scanned the shelves for what she needed. She stood on her tiptoes, her fingers brushing the covers of each book. She pulled one out titled "Dangerous Creatures.""Not very original, but I suppose it's worth a try," she murmured. Turning, she blew the dust off the cover--and right into a boy's face.
Her eyes widened. "Hey! You don't have permission to be back here!"
((Can you tell me what house and year Natasha is in? I can't find the profile or her name in the student rosters.))Conrad grimaced for a moment as he wiped away the dust. Once he was done with that chore, he scowled at her and whispered in an annoyed tone, "I only came back here to find out what you were doing. It's not a common occurence for a student to gain access to this section."
((She's a seventh year Ravenclaw))Natasha hugged the book to her chest and raised her chin defiantly. "I have unlimited access." She frowned. "I don't suppose you do. You're only--what--a third year?" She said with the prideful tone many seventh years used when talking to other students.
"Fourth, and in the pursuit of knowledge, you sometimes have to break the rules." Conrad glanced down at the title of the book before looking back up, "What are you doing with a book like that? The only dangerous creatures near here are in the Forbidden Forest, and there's a reason it's called that."
Natasha smiled at his response about breaking rules. It wasn't like she hadn't done plenty of that in her time at Hogwarts. She shrugged innocently at his question. "Research."With that, she brushed past him, bringing her discovery into the main library.
Conrad followed her out, now throughly interested in her activities, "I didn't think one could act so innocent when it came to researching dangerous topics. Either way, if you need any help, I know two other books in the Restricted Section that you may want to use as cross-references."
Natasha looked at him curiously, debating on whether to trust him or not. "Do you...know a lot...about dangerous magical creatures? Particularly rare ones?"
Conrad maintained his cold gaze, not backing down, "Not off the top of my head, but one of the books I know of gives many ideas for combating their powers and exploiting any natural weaknesses they may have."
Natasha smiled, not affected by his cold look, and sighed. "No, I-I don't think that will help me. But thanks anyway." She held up her book. "I'll just see what I can find in here."She started to go sit down, but then turned around. "What's your name, anyway?"
Conrad decided to return the smile, though his was smaller in comparison to hers, "Conrad Norwood, and yours?"
"Natasha Rhiki. Good to meet you, Conrad, even if we got off on the wrong foot." She wrinkled her nose. "Sorry about the dust. You really shouldn't sneak up on people like that," she reprimanded, though her eyes were sparkling.
((So two other RPers are wondering if their characters can follow me into the Library. Their character are Gryffindors like mine and they're wondering why I hurried out of the common room to come to the library.))"And you shouldn't be reading restricted books, but I think we both agree it's acceptable in this case," Conrad smirked at her, enjoying the sparkle in her eyes. "So why do you need this book anyways?"
((Course they can. I know who you're talking about. I've rped with them. They're involved in the reason why Natasha's researching magical creatures.))"I'm a curious girl. Do I have to have another reason?"
"Well, no, though it is kind of odd to see even a 'Claw head in there. Usually, it's someone like me from Gryffindor who doesn't belong there."
She wrinkled her nose again. "Oh, please. Like only Gryffindors can break the rules. I wasn't this time, mind you, but I have plenty experience in the art of being mischievous."
He chuckled at her words, "I doubt you're as stupidly brave as some of my house, though. Either way, I know a mystery when I see one and whatever you're researching is one."
She crossed her arms. "Very astute. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to start on my...research." She grinned.
"Yes, I'll go ahead and leave you alone, Natasha, though tell me later how the case is solved," Conrad gives her a quick smile before heading to leave.
Natasha's features became downcast at this, as she doubted she would accomplish anything. She fingered the book. If she couldn't find anything in there, she'd have to beg Professor Eddings for information.
Conrad noticed her reaction to him beginning to leave and frowned, "You really do need help, don't you?"
Natasha smiled weakly. She had some misgivings about telling him, but...."Can you keep a secret?"

((Okay, give me a sec.))He gave her a simple nod, "Anything for a friend."
She accepted the nod with a warm smile. And then she proceeded to tell him the whole story in a hushed whisper.
Listened carefully to the tale, making sure to take notes of certain key points. "So a week ago, a woman who wasn't a student was found and taken to St. Mungo's. After hearing the tale from Fredric, you headed upstairs to check on your friend's pet. Am I correct so far?"
"It's Frederic, not Fredric first of all." Frederic said revealing himself from behind a shelf. "And yeah, that's exactly what happened."
"Frederic and Elle then found you on the forbidden floor holding a baby. However, the child was not ordinary. Based on the evidence, it's amplified cries threw you to the wall, rendering you unconscious. Frederic was attacked by a boggart that took the form of a dementor and fell unconscious as well. That was how Elle and the professor found you two," Conrad noded to himself, already forming an idea of the ghost baby's origin. "I may know what was wrong with the woman. The child was certainly undead due to its apparent floating. It may be reasonable to assume the woman was pregnant when she went to the floor."
Natasha startled due to Frederic's sudden appearance. "Oh! Frederic! Yes, I was just...I thought Conrad could help."She looked at him curiously. "How old was that girl, Frederic?"
"Well.."she said clearing her throat, "I guess I might have over-reacted a little bit."
Delany remind her of somebody. It wasn't her appearance, as much as the way she stood and looked at Ruby.
"What are you reading?" she asked Delany hesitantly. What was she thinking? She gave up on people a long time ago.
