If Dumbledore would have hired Voldemort, what kind of Professor do you think he would be, in terms of the way he taught? Would the students like him? If you were his student would you have liked him?

I think generally the students would love him, and find him fascinating and scary. He would be charismatic, charming, mysterious, everything you would admire in a teacher just like he was everything all the teachers admire in a student. I think he would demonstrate astounding magic that the kids would go gaga over. He would definitely have favorites who stood out in class, maybe be his helpers, but unlike Snape, he'd not be cruel to other students, probably just ignore the ones he didn't see potential in and definitely make the muggle borns feel inferior but make it seem legitimate to treat them that way. He would slowly creep in their minds and brain wash them. He, being a DADA teacher, would actually make Dark Arts look good in a way that defense would eventually seem meaningless and slowly the class would become simply Dark Arts. I as a student would probably not be his favorite because I am shy and probably would not be great at defense, although I would get decent grades. He might ignore me, and I would admire him, but not particularly like him, and would definitely be scared of him.

Hm.... I think he would definitely be a defense against the dark arts professor, because thats his forte. Or I could see him as potions profesor so that he could snoop around the basement better. I probably wouldn't like him if he was really hard and mean, but if he was hard, but taught well and wasn't too strict, I think I might like him.

Probably he would be a defence against the dark arts professor and i might love love love him so much!

I would get the chills from that man's high cold voice and red eyes.He would probably not curse or hex you in the class but your instinct will tell you not cross the line with this one.I would have respected him for his knowledge but wouldn't get too close to see if I am right.Hey!Its there in the book ...he teaches DADA.

You'd instinctively know not to cross him, like Harry felt with McGonagall, but different. He'd feel evil. Not Snape evil, though.

I think,he would be a mix of Slughorn, McGonagall and Snape in that:

he would probably have a few favorites he would show Dark Arts stuff that are out of the curriculum and probably recruit them into his Death Eater club(Slughorn). No mudbloods allowed of course,

he would definitely be nasty to students he disliked (Snape) coz remember this Voldermot we are talking about!

he would probably have that 'don't you dare cross me' vibe that McGonagall had. I'm sure the red eyes and the snake like face would do it.

And you are right, he would probably make it just the Dark Arts after a while. I think that was his intentions when he came to Dumbledore.

I wonder how long he would of actually stayed a professor especially if he was working in the D.A.D.A. I wonder if perhaps he would have just used it as a recruiting class and as a way to strengthen and exploit the young minds to get them to follow him. He would have been charismatic and short-tempered for sure. I think his obsessions would have made him a poor teacher as time went on.

Hmm. I thought his intentions were just to gain access to the Chamber of Secrets and to search for the Founder's heirlooms. His request to teach seemed like a cover for unlimited access to the castle and its secrets. I had not gleaned a true intention for Tom Riddle to actually want to educate anyone.

I could see the recruitment of students to the Death Eaters, though.

Tom was a cold person, so he would likely have not been a beloved teacher by many.

That's exactly how I imagined what it would be like if he was made teacher.

I think he'd make out of charm and likability a marvelous facade for both teachers and students , however , he would from time to time show students who slip up that he is not to be trifled with.He could be distant probably taking advantage of the school's resources and chamber of secrets .He would put up the perfect teacher act while he achieves his goals and dreams behind the curtains , of establishing his dark empire.

I think he'd teach dark arts and defense and I'd intentionally get decent grades in his class so he wouldn't notice me. *shudders* oh, the nightmares :D
