So if you’re not talking about her depression, then all you’re talking about is her is being able to go to school....

Millions of kids do this everyday.

Izzy I'm really confused now. If we're not discussing Bella's depression and the effect that it had on her, what's this thread about?

Impresive Definition:
Making a strong or vivid impression; striking or remarkable.

Impresive is prety much everything that leaves a lasting impresion on you - since when only good things do that? "

I still don't understand you. I can read and comprehend very well, your point though is still flying over my head. There is nothing striking or remarkable about cancer or any of what you said. That is the point of the word impressive. If something is impressive the thing that is impressive is a good thing. Like an ability, skill, what have you. I never heard of a bad thing being impressive. That's the exact opposite of how someone should feel when something bad happened.

Then what is this thread about? Her 'shutting off her emotions' is actually repression and repression is a part of depression. If we're not talking about her depression (which was why she repressed her emotions) then what are you going on about?

Goddess Of Blah i don't mean to be rude- but I didn't even realise people were still into Twilight lol!

Well, these threads keep popping to the top of my notifications. They're the busiest threads and so hardest to ignore!! I managed to avoid them for a few months but then gave in again lol!!!!

I rather talk about how bad Claire Seeber's books are, but no one visits those threads!!! Maybe because they really are so bad!!!!

No something is impresive if it lieves lasting impresion to you. when something hapens that creates strong emotion to you that you will remember for long time then you are imprest. It can be good, bad or neither of those.

But that's not being impressive. There's a difference between something leaving you with an impression, an experience or memory, and something being impressive. Like it's impressive if someone jumps over a car coming towards them and they stick the landing and are fine. There's nothing impressive about bombs or cancer.

I don't mean to sound all WHAT TEAM?! and AMURRICA! but maybe it's because you're not really good with English that you can't see the difference between an impression and something being impressive? Like First impressions, they can be good or bad. There's nothing impressive about a bad impression. Something being impressive is seen as a good thing, not bad.

Marilyn Impressive usually means something good though. I don't know why you listed all these horrible things like cancer or the atomic bomb. Yes, they leave lasting impressions in us, but the negative kind. I've never heard of someone talking about having cancer in a positive light.

I think your problem, Ansis.. would be that you fail to make this connection between repression of emotions and depression. Is this why you are so ready to dismiss our many arguments so quickly?

Laura Phelps Shutting off your emotions is not that hard, and once you discover how, it is very, very dangerous.

Saffron Well, that has nothing to do with being strong or weak in my opinion. Bella was going through depression and she shut everything out of her life for a while, but she was not weak at all.

I did that a few years ago..

Jassy Jay It's a depression, obsessing with something and therefore not being able to understand the realtiy. It kind of happened to me once with my last boyfriend so I understand this state she's been in but somehow I found it annyoing. Maybe because in the end she still doesn't (and will never) get over it.

Querube Shutting her emotions down as a way of protection from the infinite ache that comes after her situation sounds like the most accurate way for her of not feeling the pain both emotional and physical that comes from it, and I think, as all the pain overwelmed her, the only way out was shutting herself, getting to a state of numbness, because the pain filled her whole existence. Who doesn't want a way out in such a miserable condition?

The impresive part here for me, was when she was able to get out of this state. That's the really strong minded part.
