Help what is this book

I read awhile ago a book or maybe it was a series which for the life of me I can't remember the title.

The heroine was a 'human' with tracking skills who could track where a magic user had been and was going to teleport to. At the start of the book she was doing work for a king if a magical land and was kidnapped by rebels. She ends up falling in love with the rebel leader.

Any ideas on what this book is?

I also think she may have been searching for a friend of hers who was kidnapped.
