Can't find this book again

Hi, can anyone help. I read a book in last year. Cover had black gates with girls faces in them. The book was about this Asian American teen who had been mentally linked to this guy her whole life. She starts chatting to him in lift one day and realises he's the scary guy in the lift. Anyway his family are bad witches and she is forced to break their mental link by his evil uncle. She is also a journalist for the school paper.... Does anyone know it?
