Darwin8u | 34 comments Audible has grouped a bunch of their classics that they are selling for $.99 if you own the Kindle Single too.

Most of the Kindle classics are free, so you end up with both the Kindle and the Audible versions for $.99.

Here is the list:

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) | 493 comments Rob these are great and I added these as well as the 27 totally free ones they offered about a year ago when they started to promote the combos.

Darwin8u | 34 comments I deep-mined them as well. I even bought books I already owned, just because the .99 version had a different narrator.

Stupid question - how does Audible know you own the Kindle edition?

message 6: by Darwin8u (new)

Darwin8u | 34 comments Audible and Goodreads are owned by Amazon. Bezos knows how long you slept last night.

Ann | 81 comments Audible even has a new column in the library that has a check mark if you own the kindle version. wow.

LOLLL - thank you both :-)

I thought Goodreads was no longer owned by Amazon.

Amazon just bought GR.

Darwin8u | 34 comments No. Not unless they bought in April and sold in May. http://m.guardiannews.com/books/2013/...

J. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ | 717 comments Hmmm. Don't know how to feel about that. Hope they don't screw anything up.

I don't know why, but I was thinking they used to own it and then sold it. Maybe I was thinking of a different company.

You might have been thinking of the work the librarians did to pull Amazon data from the site.

Perhaps. I'm suddenly reminded to do a back up of my Goodreads book lists.

Not many new titles Garrison.

Gary (mrgrumblebee) | 8 comments Apparently not all discounts are listed; to wit, moments ago I purchased “Gulliver's Travels” Kindle version ($0 http://goo.gl/YIXMa) and then was offered the unabridged audio version performed by David Hyde Pierce also for $0.

That is a phenomenal deal.

That was one of the 27 free classics which I got when I joined Audible - it is a great narration, enjoy :)

Gary (mrgrumblebee) | 8 comments Ah, thanks Leslie.

I subscribe to DownPour rather than Audible (mainly due to DRM issues) but I've been scooping up the deals on classics. I did some searching and it seems that the for the extended classics set (i.e. not listed on the WhisperSync deal pages) fluctuate, sometimes free, sometimes $0.99, sometimes a bit more. (e.g. someone got Moonstone for $0, I got it for $2.99)

The free classics were the main reason I joined. I have gotten some excellent bargains from them with the $0.99 WhisperSync, but sometimes the edition/narration which qualifies for the deal isn't the best one they have (which might be why the price for The Moonstone varied - different edition).
