This book brought up some heavy and important issues. Did any of it "stick" in your head after completing the book? Any cause further research or action?

Politically, not really---just more helplessness as far as how awful humans can be to each other. On CNBC one morning (the reaaaaally early international show that's on at 5:00 a.m.), there WAS someone speaking who was the minister of oil for Nigeria or something like that, and she talked of oil oil oil, and I thought, "Oh! Little Bee!"

I also wondered what I'd do about the finger on the beach. Had I been in Sarah's shoes, I think my mistrust of the soldiers would've prevented me from chopping off my own finger. In fact, the most implausible part of the story, to me, was that they let Little Bee live. In a way, Sarah got lucky. Sort of.
