Jerrod (liquidazrael) I was unable to find the 'hidden' stuff, didn't look hard enough I suppose. Yes this works fine, but not hoitie toitie for me. We should spruce it up!

Jerrod (liquidazrael) Well, in all my excitiment to read Conrad Williams new book One another book slipped by me. God Of Clocks, the final book in this segment of the Deepgate Codec is finally out. If anyone hasn't read this wonderfully bizarre dark fantasy series, it's worth the read. It starts with Lye Street, which is a prequel and follows a wonderful trilogy consisting of Scar Night, Iron Angel and finally God Of Clocks. Although it does suffer from some literary problems in it's own right [like most series novels:] but the environment and characters really make up for other faults. I've got it on hold at the Devils Bookstore [just for you VJ:] and will lace it open tonight!!!

Jerrod (liquidazrael) so does that make Powell's Gods Bookstore?

message 4: by Jerrod (new)

Jerrod (liquidazrael) Powell's book store in Portland is a 3-4 story book store downtown. I always said if you couldn't find it at the downtown Portland store, you didn't need it.

Phillip it's the best bookstore in the united states....at least the best one i've ever found, and i'm the kind of guy that looks for such things.

Jerrod (liquidazrael) yes, rare, OOP, new, used, the whole nine yards! It's the closest store that I've actually been to that could serve as an Abe Books [brick and mortar:]. That is the major reason I actually go home to see the inlaws and friends. Hell VJ you are only 3 hours away, make a weekend trip out of it, you won't be sorry.

Jerrod (liquidazrael) You'll enjoy it, I wish I lived west more so it wasn't a 14 hour drive to Portland. But I do hope to see the inlaws this summer with the rest of my family this time around. It's going to be Powell's, Tillamook, then time permitting, swing up to WA to see family and goodreads friends.

Phillip there's a cafe in the bookstore as well, so you can grab a bunch of stuff off the shelves, hang out in the cafe and have a bite or a sip, and enjoy your books. i love that place. the literature section is bigger than most bookstores.
