Josh smiled and kissed his cheek as he got into the limo, adoring what a lovable mood he was in. "Goof."

Darren closed the door behind him with a clean pop, and glanced at his uncles with a small smirk. God they were funny...

As the limo pulled the a stop, Darren pressed his face up against the glass so he could look up the side of the tower. "Holy sh-"

Darren turned and smirked a little in his shy way. "Sorry."

Josh popped his door open and climbed out into the afternoon air. He stretched a little and then reached back into the vehicle to help his finacé out after him.

Skylar ruffled Josh's hair again before climbing out. " Silly Darren... love you kid.." He said before getting out with Josh and walking toward the restaurant.

Josh took his arm and walked beside him, Darren following along behind them like a puppy dog.

Josh shivered a little in the dwindling light, and pulled Skylar just a bit closer. Darren hugged himself almost simultaneously as goose bumps rose on his arms. The time was right to change, but it didn't quite happen.

Skylar went over to Darren and looked into his mocha brown eyes. " I'm here for you Darren... it's gonna be alright.."

Darren shivered again and looked up at Skylar, deep into his own blue eyes. He kept his teeth from chattering by clenching his jaw shut tight. It would be over soon enough. "Th-Thank you..."

Darren let go of himself to hug Skylar back, relaxing a little despite the sickness.

Josh hardly noticed his illness, he had gotten it so often by now... He stood there hugging his arms as he watched the two, a kind of bittersweet sadness nesting inside him.

Skylar gave him a small but loving kiss. " Now come on Dar Dar..." Skylar said lovingly as he helped Darren into the restaurant.

Darren held onto Skylar's arm tightly, his face paler than usual. It was just a spell, and would pass soon enough... But the quicker they found a table the better.

Skylar took the elevator up the tower taking in all the sites before telling the materde they're party name and number before they were directed to a fancy table and all sat down. Skylar linking Arms with Darren the whole time making sure he's ok.

Darren leaned on him until they got to the table. Then he let go to sit down quickly. He rubbed his face hard, and then let his hands drop down to the table. Looking to Josh who sat across from him, he let out a whooshing breath. "How do you live with this thing? It's so..." He put his eyes into the palms of his hands, resting his elbows on the table.

Josh shrugged, giving Skylar a sad smile before returning his attention to Darren. "Well I d-don't l-like it that's for sure..." He squeezed his nephew's shoulder. "But you g-get used to it."

" Yeah... just like being a vampire, all the sun screen, all the... blood." Skylar said the last part hesitantly as he swallowed. " It's not a easy life either... in the least."

Darren looked over at Skylar, sympathy written on his face. "No..." He said quietly, wanting to hug him but not feeling as if that was a good thing to do. "No I don't think it would be..."

Skylar nodded to Josh and looked over his menu giving Josh a "should we tell him now" face before looking back to the menu.

Darren, completely oblivious, opened up his menu and began to browse through.

Josh met his gaze, but thought about it for a moment before giving him a small nod. Yeah... It was time enough. He felt like he would explode if he waited any longer too.

" Darren.." Skylar said softly as he grabbed Josh's hand under the table and gave it a squeeze. " Me and you're uncle have been thinking long and hard.."

Darren's eyes flicked up from the menu and he fixated the two in his gaze, that strangeness in Skylar's tone catching him off guard. "Uh, yeah?"

Josh suddenly felt tongue-tied. He was sure his hand was shivering inside Skylar's nervously, but he kept it together. "We were thinking m-maybe you'd l-like to live with us... Be p-part of our f-family..."

Darren stopped everything and stared. "How... How do you mean, 'be part of your family?'"

" We'd.... like to adopt you Darren... we want you to be our son..." Skylar finally coughed out just waiting for a response.

Darren stared for several long moments, his heart fluttering uncertainly in his chest. It was like it was undecided... Trying to determine whether to pound like there was no tomorrow or stop altogether. "You..." He swallowed hard at a sudden lump in his throat. They wanted to... "You want to adopt me?" It was hard to wrap his mind around. However, he didn't have to think long about his answer. Sure, he had parents. But he hated them just about as much as they hated him. All the bruises and the punishments for no reason... There was no doubt in his mind who he would rather belong to. Besides, how amazing was it to have people who had the same issues as you to look out for your problems? His face wanted to smile, but he felt more like crying. "I... I, uh, I... Yes, yes I want to. I want to so much..."

Skylar smiled and hugged Darren tightly. " Welcome to the family Darren..."

Darren hugged Skylar back hard, pushing his face hard into his shoulder. Finally he got to leave that house... He got to be with people be actually loved... "God I... I love you..." He murmured into his jacket, sniffing back his tears.

Josh nearly died inside. He was hiding his grin behind his hand as he rested his elbow on the table.

"No," Darren shook his head, letting go of Skylar slowly. "I won't... Not... Not now..." Then his face broke into an ear to ear grin, one so similar to Josh's.

Josh let his hand drop and he gave the two a smile. "So that's that."

" Good.." He said as they're food arrived and they all began gorging, even Joshy who finally had an appetite because of the fun him and Josh had before they came.

Josh grinned as he took a drink of his wine. "So y-you're cool with ch-changing uncle to dad?" He asked Darren, genuinely curious about it.

Darren just grinned back and nodded. "Yeah. Both you guys are better than uhm, than the originals." He finished quietly.

" Yeah.... Josh... will have to get a bigger house... always wanted a big house.." Skylar said he loved there apartment , don't get him wrong... but still.

Josh nodded quietly, flipping some vegetables over with his fork. "Get out of the city a l-little bit m-maybe... Somewhere with a b-backyard..." That was one thing that drove him insane about the apartment. Everytime he changed, he was locked in the house unless Skylar took him out for a walk. The woods were something he really missed.

Darren listened avidly, still smiling.

Josh looked over at him and smiled. "To the park?"

Darren's face pinked a little and he took a long sip of water. He was still embarrassed of being a dog every night... It made him feel a little inferior sometimes.

He actually got a choice? "Uhm..." Darren bit his lip, wondering what kind of school would be easiest on him... Where he cold get home within decent time so he didn't change for night, and when he didn't have to get up so early that he had to board a bus as a dog.

Josh cut in before he had time to think. "I could teach him?"
